Tips
When installing new trackpad
Routing the cable through the upper case and past the logic board may be difficult. It is helpful to use the tip of a spudger to guide the connector past the logic board while pushing the cable through its slot in the upper case with your other hand.
Reinstall the 4 screws
- Next, reinstall the four 1.2 mm Phillips screws along the inner edge of the trackpad.
- Tighten the screws all the way, then back them out about 1/4 turn.
Check the alignment
- Check the alignment of the trackpad on the keyboard side of the upper case.
- Once you have centered the trackpad in the upper case, tighten the four Phillips screws all the way.

The unit is pretty easy to replace. Four little screws holding it in, underneath the battery. You need a special screwdriver for the battery. Looks and works just like the factory one.

I started to install it. There are four screws that hold this in place These screws are the smallest screws I have ever seen. Just the slightest flick or movement and they can literally disappear. I have a magnetic screw driver and it still did not help. At the cost that I paid for it, four screws would have been thrown in with it. I ended ordering them. I will edit this once I start using the trackpad.Addendum: Did mot seat well and cracked with pressure

Update - the issue was not the track pad quality or even the trackpad. The issue was a swollen battery that pushed against the trackpad from underneath enough to fill the clearance space needed to “click”. Once I replaced the battery, the trackpad works fine.

We had several mac pro laptops that needed some basic upgrades. I like this trackpad because it includes. the hard-to-replace cable. The trackpad in this example failed because. of cracks in the battery. I replaced the battery and the trackpad, and while I was in there installed an SSD hard drive. Now the computer runs fast and works perfectly. All for about $100.Note: I would HIGHLY recommend replacing the battery when you replace the trackpad. While some failures are the trackpad, most are caused by old expanding battery packs and since you. need to remove the battery to change the trackpad, you might as well. spend. the $39 for a. new battery.

I have a 2011 13” MacBook Pro and this track pad works perfectly after several months of use. I damaged my original with a harsh cleaning detergent. I immediately assumed I would have to replace my entire MacBook. I found this track pad and ordered it. It arrived quickly and took only a few minutes to install. After several months of daily use, works as good as new! I am so thrilled that there are inexpensive and easy to install replacement hardware to keep my MacBook running as good as new.
