This is a book I used as a child to improve technique. Now that I’m retired, I want to go back to piano playing and regain the skills abandoned so long ago. I was thrilled to find that it was still available. This nook was in perfect condition when it arrived.

I am slowly teaching myself to play the piano - very slowly. Although I've played other instruments and can read music, getting these old fingers to go where directed has been a challenge. This book is helping. The drills are very repetitious and can be learned by nearly anyone beyond the first level, but perfecting them at speed is quite a challenge. Their main objective is to strengthen weak fingers and to make the fourth and fifth fingers pull their own weight, while getting both hands to work together (as an accordion player whose left hand was accustomed to pushing buttons, this is one of the many places I need work). It takes concentration and discipline to perfect the exercises and do them daily, but the Hanon drills do their part.
