I actually purchased these (I bought 2, fairly identical but shaped differently) for the purpose of preventing bird strikes against our patio window. We have a deep inset patio with a full bank of floor to ceiling windows. We feed the birds and frequently the doves especially begin to "argue" over the seed. When this happens, they will take flight in the wrong direction and hit the windows especially hard. Hard enough that when we happen to be sitting in that room it is quite startling and sounds like a rock. I'm not even sure that they survive it. I wanted something that would catch their attention to prevent that and would still be attractive inside the house. Given that there is very little wind that deep inside the patio I was dubious, but fortunately it doesn't take much. Not only are they very pretty, but they were also very economically priced, and they turn slowly enough that we can enjoy, and the birds have stopped hitting the window. At least for the time being ....
