So nice they all work together

The best feature by far for this Ecoey smoke/CO alarm is that it uses 3 AA batteries (which are provided. yay!) rather than the expensive 9V batteries that have become ubiquitous for smoke alarms. That said, I had several failures where the Tuya app failed to pair to this device. After I experimentally decided to try removing then reinstalling the batteries, the exact same procedure succeeded. Not sure if that truly was a fix, or if I just got lucky on that particular attempt. I hope I don't have to go through the pairing process again following some future power outage where my wifi network bounces.Just for grins, I decided to actually test the CO detection by filling a ziplock bag with some exhaust from my car. Upon releasing the bag's contents near the detector, I saw the digital display ramp up to 207, then as the air cleared, it ramped down and stayed around 75 for a couple of minutes. Interestingly, the alarm did not sound even though 150-200 ppm is a dangerous level. I'll assume that the alarm has a delay that exceeds 2 minutes, and that's why the alarm didn't sound during my experiment (pretty big assumption since if I'm wrong, and my home does become flooded with CO, I guess I'll wake up dead 😵). I also noticed that the app did not report that 207 ppm had been detected, i.e., the app doesn't exactly do what I'd expect either. My approach to reviews is that 3-stars represents an average product with which I'm reasonably happy. The AA battery aspect adds a star to my rating, but my wrestling match with the wifi setup deducts a star. My CO-detection experiment's result was inconclusive (though it did prove that the alarm detected CO, albeit sans alarm), so I won't deduct anything for that observation. 3-stars is the final total here.

This smoke alarm has a nice appearance but it has connection issues. I can't get it to connect to my wifi unfortunately.

I never expected to need nor want an app-linked fire/smoke detector, but now that I have it I'm thankful. If you've ever had a smoke alarm go off in the middle of the night and startle you out of bed and not stop and the only recourse was to pull it down and smash it, you know what I mean when I say I'm excited to be able to tap a button on my phone and turn the alarm off. It looks nice, and sleek, as you'd expect modern electronics to look. And it's definitely loud (I pressed the wrong thing and it caused it to test the sound). It seems like it's going to be a great fit for our house.

The combo smoke/carbon monoxide detector is a requirement for most places now. I understand why they are so loud as the manufacturers don't know how large your room/hallway/home is so beware that this will definitely wake you up from your sleep. I guess that is a good thing and does it's job in that regard. It comes with the Energizer brand of batteries and uses AA which is a plus! Very easy to set up once you have it connected to your phone using bluetooth. If you already have smart appliances set up on your phone, this will be a breeze once you have downloaded the app. Price is about average for other brands I have seen.

I love the combo so I don't have to have multiple units. It also takes two AA batteries which is a lot easier to find around the house. When it goes off, there's no mistaking the sound because it's really loud. Setting it up took me a while but once it was done, it worked well. Overall it's a nice unit and very convenient for us.

At first, i was ready to love this smoke detector! Well made/packaged, lots of features and even came with Energizer branded batteries. Then came a small hiccup with pairing with Tuya. You need to manually select "Smoke Detector (Wi-Fi)" and place it into pairing mode. There are 2 pairing modes where the 2nd mode worked for me. Mind you, this is all written in the included instructions, just requires some patience as there is a lot of information on there. All was fine after that until I tried testing it. BOY is this thing LOUD! If you live in an apartment, be ready for some complaints anytime someone vapes or causes just a bit of smoke. This thing will cause your ears to bleed! With no way of adjusting the volume and plugging the speaker hole having literally no effect on the sound, i was forced to take more drastic action. This will void your warranty but if you insist on keeping this unit, all you need to do is unscrew the 2 screws hidden behind the back sticker and detach the 4 clips to gain access to the internals. Attached to the center of the front cover, you'll find a piezoelectric gasket powered by the circuit board. You could try dampening the sound, replacing the gasket, adding a resistor or just removing it entirely(of course then you'll be relying on just the Tuya connection to notify you).Overall, i do think this is a good smoke detector but i was just expecting a way to adjust the speaker volume.
