Well made, but are a little heavy. Very good support, a little stiff but should smooth up and get softer with use. Have walked around my park a couple of times now, they are comfortable but a little heavier than my old High Tech's that I have had for 5 years. These should last a long time and I recommend them for anyone looking for a very good pair of hiking shoes at a fair price.

These make very good 'terrain walking shoes.' Gravel roads trails, through the woods, and even city walking, etc. they are very good, and I would think even for light backpacking. They stand up very well to this kind of use. I use off-the-shelf full length orthotics for added arch support as I pronate a bit, but the factory insoles are comfortable, and it is easy to switch. They are waterproof and the 'nubuck leather' (which is real leather- check Google or Wiki) wears well. But what these are not is rough-work boots. Gardening and yard work is fine, but they do not stand up as well digging ditches and such The toe bumper is stitched to the nubuck toe box, and thread used there does not resist friction well at all! Once these threads are compromised, and that happens easily through wear and friction, the toe box begins to come apart. So much so that I have purchased my last paired for working.Don't get me wrong. I really like these boots for the price. So much so I just bought two more pair. But these are now dedicated to be just for walking and hiking, taking the dog for a walk and such. And speaking of dog walks, the traction is good on pavement and tarmac. I can testify to that as my big male German Shepherd has given me the opportunity to test them in regards to their holding power!

This is a great hiking shoe at an amazing price. I picked it up for approx $50CADI spent two weekends in very wet camping conditions and this held up beautifully.I do feel that the tongue is a bit on the short side and as such the laces slipped up from time to time

Am using these all around at moment to be spelled off by hi tec s that were my usual scramble staple. So far I find these getting more comfortable than ever after some break in,am scrambling with them so usually have to freesole the seams of somewhat cheaper boots for longevity ,haven t yet with these and possibly have a very good built pair, great pricing as I put boots thru hell on steep terrain, may spell these off with approach shoes however as very steep terrain is out of the scope of these boots, for walking hiking I feel these are awesome!

Got these as general outdoors boots - hiking, camping, yard stuff. I wanted some Danners or equivalent, but my wallet and my wife said no.I've only worn these a few times, but they were pretty comfortable right out of the box. Not super light, but not what I would consider heavy either. You definitely don't wan't to order a larger size in these. I wear 10.5 or 11 depending on the brand, ordered the 10.5 in these and they were almost too big. Almost, but not quite. The toe box is roomy, but the heel fits quite well and doesn't slip. The only stiff/uncomfortable part that needs breaking in is the ankle collar, but I can leave the top two hooks off when tying them (for now, while breaking them in) and that's not a problem. Those top two lace hooks are really the only downside I've seen so far, as they aren't as... friendly as I'd like. Great boots, especially for the price.

So far, I've had these for about three weeks and used them in conditions that would have obliterated my normal shoes. These boots are still fine. I was a little weary given the price, but I did my research before buying and they seem to live up to the reputation. As far as comfort goes, they are as broken-in as they will get. That took about twelve hours of wear. The fit still seems to be changing a bit, so we'll see how that pans out. They're a little bigger than a typical 12 I think: it's unnoticeable with thick socks, but I would prefer my shoes be snug with thick socks than loose with thin ones. Even so, I have worn them continuously for about six hours on two separate occasions and never even got a hotspot much less a blister, so it isn't that bad. More time will tell whether they end up fitting completely. You WILL NEED in-soles with these - not necessarily prescription, just something to fill the bottom - or they will not fit at all. I'm pretty sure they are designed that way but be aware of it. This is my first pair of specific hiking boots, so maybe they're usually that way...?The laces seem to be nice, but like most laces they are not fun to untie if they get soaked (or I'm assuming frozen). I'll end up replacing them with nylon eventually, but in the meantime it's nothing the hook on my Victorinox can't handle.A number of times I've found myself moving in a way that would definitely have injured my ankle in, say, sneakers, but these boots give great ankle support and I have not had an injury yet. They grip pretty well, and my ice chains fit. They are also waterproof as advertised - I have walked through more than enough bogs and creeks to be sure.As a real test, I used them to scale the rocks of a waterfall in the area (roughly a half-hour journey each way and rather treacherous) and they handled it beautifully. I still slipped around on a few of the slick rocks, but that's not surprising. I never went into the drink though, nor did I strain or twist my ankle.I'll post updates as time goes on.

Bought these boots for several reasons..Made in Michigan USA, they were available in wide widths, waterproof ( yet to be proven however), made with thick leather and metal hardware.Although these were listed under 3E in the sizing chart, they were NOT 3E when worn. The shoe label stated Wide, NOT 3E as advertised and I am feeling mislead here..I was going to send them back because of this issue but a boot was needed ASAP so I will settle and hope they stretch when broken in. The shoe sizing is good, just not wide as stated. (Anyone with very Wide feet knows this is a common and very frustrating problem for shoe buyers and i was hoping this purchase would be different after reading some of the previous reviews).Otherwise; they are a bit heavy and (Clunky) for me and difficult to tie tightly so they stay tied. The laces are too stretchy and loosen to the point of having to re-tie after a bit of walking.Would I buy these again? NO.
