This is a beautiful wood carving kit, including so many well-made and useful tools. It enables me to experiment with many carving techniques in my exploration of this craft. The tools are correctly sharp and easy to hold and manipulate. I am sure this will be a treasured kit for a long time to come.

This review is for, “Wood Carving Kit, 36Pcs Wood Carving Tools with Paint and Beewax, Wood Whittling Kit with 4Pcs Whittling Knives & Storage Bag for Beginners and Enthusiasts”.This is a really nice starter kit with a lot of accessories. The storage bag is nice and looks like it will last. The blades are VERY sharp. The wood carves easily. The only downside is that the gloves do NOT stop the blades. Please do not turn your kids loose with this thinking the gloves will keep them safe. I’ve seen ads for other gloves that are impenetrable. These are not those gloves!!! The box this set came with is slightly thicker than poster board. I laid one of the gloves over the corner of this box and with minimal pressure, sliced across the glove. The knife cut right through the glove. The gloves will still offer some protection but they are not going to prevent injury. As long as you know what to expect, this is a great set!

This is a decent good starter set for whittling or wood carving. It comes with several blades as well as a leather strop and some polishing compound – important since you’ll want to be sharpening your blades regularly while whittling. It also has some sandpaper, wax, and basswood pieces to get you started. The paints are very basic primary color acrylics.While it does come with cut resistant gloves, I found the gloves that were included made the handles of the knives slippery to hold – they either needed to make the knife handles less smooth, or add some rubber grips to the gloves. I ended up switching them for another pair I already owned that had some rubber on it. Additionally, the instructions are minimal, so I strongly recommend you find some tutorials before jumping in!

I wanted to give this to my daughter as she was interested in whittling last time we went camping. The set has a nice selection of knives but everything in the kit had an oily coating on it. I'm not sure if I want my daughter handling this stuff with the weird coating. There was also nibbles out of the corners of the orange box- looks like a mouse or something tried to get into it in storage. The knives are of moderate quality. Fine for beginners and kids to just try a craft out, but not sharp enough for harder woods.

Great wood carving kit for covering alot of bases carving and finishing.Chipping, detail and spoon knives are well made and sharp but not high end (close).. Feel ok in hand. Basswood is known for being a soft easy to carve wood with nice grain. Basswood should not be left outdoors as it will rot and is not strong for load situations. Basswood blocks supplied are sized for small carvings (1- 2"X2" and 4- 4"X1"X1").Everything listed in ad except wood comes in a nice zippered case. Most pieces are held in place with elastic bands with gloves, sandpaper, buffing pad, polishing compound, and beeswax randomly fitting in.All in all this is a really nice kit that takes wood carving up a notch from pocket knife carving due to the angles and sizes of blades..

This comes with a lot of accessories to get you started on carving wood. The carving knives seem to be sharp and the handles are big so that you can get a good grip on them. I did not test out all the accessories and do not plan on using most of them. I did a quick test with carving a little bit of one of the blocks of wood and it carved well.The safety gloves are a bit small on me but are usable. I usually wear large. I tested the gloves and they did a pretty good job of resisting cuts. I used a box cutter to test. The only complaint I have is that they do not give a nice variety of wood blocks and they are a bit small. I could be wrong, but I figure it would be harder to carve details on a smaller block than a larger one. At least you can always buy the blocks separately. In any case, as a beginner these would be good to practice on.

I've done some carving off and on over the past 5-10 years. It's not necessarily something I do often but every once in a while I'll pick it up for a project.This set was ready to go right out of the box. The blades could definitely stand to be stropped or otherwise honed as the grinding marks are still present, but I wanted to see how they would work without any extra effort so I picked up a project that I'd set down after a few errors and made some detailed cuts along with removing material, and everything worked decently.I like that the stropping leather is attached to a board, as this is geared towards beginners, that's one less thing to worry about.I haven't used the beeswax to coat anything yet, but again, it's a nice bonus to this kit. I'm not sure I use the paints for anything, just personal preference more than anything else. They are also nothing special, standard craft paint from any beginner painting set.The gloves are a bit snug for me, but I'm an adult that typically wears size L gloves. These are at best a medium. But I have another pair that fit betted that I can wear.Again, overall for a beginner's set, this is quite good.I'd maybe have liked some more options with the included wood. Such as a 2x2x4 block, or maybe a spoon blank since there is a hook knife included. But getting any wood is great so you can just get started without need any additional purchases.
