These are a little thin and the stain job isn't the best, but they're cute and work for their intended purpose. I have one in the living room for our cat toys and one in the front hall for our shoes. They are aesthetic enough to leave out and still look cute with my decor which is a huge bonus! They're a nice big size too. They do require assembly but it's not bad. My favorite part is the pawprint cutout is just the right size for my cat to reach her paw through and play with the toys inside the crate and it's hilarious and cute and very entertaining! Plus the pawprint is super cute and I like that it can be used for cats too!

1. First, these wooden crates are fairly well designed, but they are not heavy duty. They are made from soft, lightweight wood with the exterior treated to look and feel tough and rustic. But because the wood is still soft inside, it will not take too much abuse to crack and splinter it. The 'reinforced corners' are only attached on one side, so the other side can easily break off if it catches on something. Still, for light weight storage use, these are nice crates.2. The exteriors of all the wood components have been treated by being burned with a torch using a process called shou sugi ban or yakisugi in Japan. The fire chars the wood, turning the outer top wood grain into black ash, but only slightly so. Many people use this method to 'distress' the wood and make it appear old and rustic. It also replaces the need for staining or applying other protective finishes to the wood. This burning process caramelizes and hardens the sugars in the cellulose on the surface and helps preserve the wood from rot, insects, and other damaging elements. It is not unlike using a torch to make a hard crust on top of a creme brulee custard by caramelizing the sugars. So, even though a very soft wood was used for making these crates, the wood was treated to make the exterior harder and therefore more resistant to superficial stress. Also it gives the crates a nice charcoal scent.3. The caramelized wood is supposed to make the boxes look as if they are made from strong, resilient hardwood, and have weathered many storms. But the untreated wood is actually very soft and almost white, or cream in color. Possibly in the attempt to make the wood appear rustic, the charring process was done unevenly and portions of the wood, particularly in the cut-out patterns, were not charred at all. This is not a big deal to me, except that one piece of wood had evidently been gouged and then repaired with wood putty. Well, the wood putty was likely plastic and did not char at all, and remains looking like white paste. So there is apparently a small quality control issue.4. The old, rustic feel that these crates intend to convey is undermined by the use of shiny silver hardware, namely the screw heads. While the hardware provided is strong and functional, once you've assembled the boxes, the silver heads of the screws shatters the illusion that these boxes were lying in your grandparents' attic for 80 years. The sellers should have provided black screws to use for assembling the crates.5. Assembly was surprisingly easy. All of the holes lined up perfectly with little effort. Unlike the instructions, I would suggest assembling a single corner of the box first (three pieces including the reinforced corner), then sliding the floor into the slots. I found that approach was easier when putting together the second box.I actually very much like these crates, but felt that I needed to give them a rating of three stars because I believe that they are not actually as durable with "lasting durability" as potential customers might want or expect.

Exactly as described and pictured. I received the rabbit and carrot pattern. The listing refers to these as a "natural wood product" without specifying the exact wood type, but the material feels lightweight and porous—very similar to the wood used in retail florist gift containers.Assembly is intuitive and doesn't require instructions (though none are included). If you've ever put together a drawer, it's a similar process. The pre-drilled holes make construction a snap, and if you have a cordless screwdriver with a CRV T15 hex bit, you can put both crates together in minutes. The exposed screw heads give the finished product a rustic look, and as described, variations in grain and finish add to the farmhouse aesthetic. One piece had a small chipped edge, but once assembled, it blended right in.Great for storage, display, and décor! These crates would make darling Easter baskets, seasonal décor, or even functional storage in a child’s room, kitchen, or craft space. Sturdy, stackable, and easy to carry with the built-in handles, they’re both practical and decorative.

These wooden produce boxes have been awesome in our kitchen. We have a cubby under the counter where we keep most of our roots and what not and these boxes have majorly improved our organization and ease of access for cooking. The boxes are very lightweight which could be seen as both a positive and a negative i think. They seem more than strong enough though so I'm not too worried. The boxes hold quite a bit of food and were perfectly sized for the cubby where our under-counter microwave used to be. this is a fairly large space but these would look great on the counter or don't he porch too.

These crates are so cute, I love the paw-shaped cutouts on the sides. They are made of real, actual wood. They come in pieces, all of the parts for 1 crate wrapped separately from the parts for the 2nd crate. There is an instruction sheet, but assembly is so easy, one glance is really all you need. It's 3 screws in each corner, slide the bottom into place before attaching the 4th panel. A hex tool is included with each crate & hardware.I would recommend using these indoors. The wood is a soft wood and it doesn't seem to have any kind of weatherproof coating so I would not use these outdoors.Mine hold extra throws and blankets in my living room. They are so cute, I keep them in full view as part of my decor. They can be stacked if you want. I wouldn't put too much weight in them, just use good judgement; if the bottom starts to sag, there is too much weight inside.
