Watch the video to learn how to install the repair kit. In my case, it took a little extra effort to get the bits and pieces of the old rubber stopper out of the fixture

It would be nice if they sold just the plastic retainer that’s all that was wrong but the kit now makes the Fossett brand new so overall good

I purchased four of these to rebuild the Woodford Model 65 hydrants at my commercial building. I had a quick question for the factory. I gave them a call and the person that answered the phone was able to answer my question. The whole thing took just minutes. The person even asked me to email him a picture of a hydrant just to be sure I was getting the right. He responded immediately. The kit has everything you need except the aerator (if needed). I would also highly recommend that you buy some Synthetic Grease. I bought Super Lube 21030 Synthetic Grease. A prior reviewer, who identified himself as a plumber, was spot-on when they recommended that you use this lube on all threads. I took his advice and I also put some on the Plunger to help with initial seating. Here are a few tips if you are new to this work. You will need a 2.5" adjustable wrench to remove the Head Nut. When prying out the Operating Rod Assembly, be very careful not to damage the Head Nut threads. I used two screwdrivers to apply pressure on either side of the assembly simultaneously. I claw hammer was also helpful. In my case, three of the four Plungers were torn off the plunger head when extracted. If this happens to you, try to fish out the old material with wire such as a wire coat hanger. In my case it was not that easy. My Plungers were stuck in their seats. To remove them, I had to use a self feed 3/8" extended drill bit and a battery powered drill. These drill bits are threaded at the end. I carefully drilled into the rubber Plunger until it was caught on the drill bit. It then pulled right out. If the drill bit doesn't catch the Plunger, use it to destroy the Plunger, breaking it into smaller bits that can then be fished out with wire.

This was exactly the repair kit I needed. The price was fair, considering the fact that none of the local supply houses had this in stock. Anyone can order it for you, why not order it yourself? One complaint, no directions. As a plumber, I knew how it worked and went together, so I knew what it would take to disassemble the existing guts. The wall hydrant was so fouled, the plunger behaved as if there was something else holding it in. A good strong & steady pull of the Key/cam removed the rod and plunger, but if I hadn't known better, I would have been sure something was going to break.TIP: when installing the new parts, use a good plumbers grease (rated for potable water) on all threads and the plunger. It makes future work easier, and prolongs the life of the moving parts.
