They were thicker than I was expecting, more like the shell on a mechanical pencil than a straw. They should hold up well to my kid. They weren't difficult to install. The longest part of the process was cutting them to size and learning the trick to getting them over the wider insertion point of the spokes. It looks great, very fun.

I’ve put on several different sport covers or spokes skins whatever you wanna call them different brands and this brand may be generic, but I’ll tell you what there’s no problem putting them on. They go right on and they are better than a couple of the other kind that I’ve used some of them are very soft and difficult to put on these ones Are I don’t know how to explain it but they’re easy to put on. First thing, they become pretty soft in the sun and can be very difficult to get on. I fixed that by keeping them in a bowl of ice water as I was putting them on. The trick to getting them on is first pulling a tip open. Put on the spoke. Then slide your finger down it. As you do this, the spoke cover should pop on. Often it will get folded and won't go on. When that happens, slide a knife under the folded part that is stuck and slide it down the spoke cover. Should go right on. These take time and patience, but in the end work

Installing it was a pain a little because they kept twisting and it broke off into pieces. It does not come with extra. It doesn’t look so good with missing pieces.
