I spent hours on this and couldn’t get it to work so I’ll try again when I’m ready to go through all that. The C wire adapter was confusing to me at least.

This thermostat is easy to install and setup but if you are looking for remote access better look elsewhere. The remote access works very randomly. It might work for an hour or several days. The unit turns itself off line even though your system can see it and communicate to it. The only way to rest it is to delete it and reinstall which requires you to be with the thermostat not a remote operation. I was hoping the last firmware update would have fixed this issue but it didn’t fix my unit. I don’t need the remote access so still waiting for a fix.

This is a great alternative to a nest if you dont want to spend hundreds. All of the same functionality at a fraction of the price.Installation was a bit harder than other smart thermostats i've done, but that was due to my system not having a C wire. This kit did include a C wire adapter, and clear instructions that when followed did result in it working perfectly. I don't blame the kit at all, as it had everything needed.I would buy this over a nest if i had to do it again

I bought 2 of the “Amazon Renewed” Wyze thermostats. I could not be more pleased with the installation procedure! Even though I’m capable of installing thermostats without such great instructions, Wyze has created a step-by-step installation guide that is a model for other DIY instruction writers to emulate. They’ve thought of everything and included exactly what you need in the kit. The instructions become customized for your HVAC wiring as you inform the app of what you have in terms of wiring to your system. I have 2 HVAC systems from different eras, and the Wyze instructions interpreted each system properly, resulting in customized graphics for each unit. Oh, and they work great.

Short and sweet, save yourself from searching and watching a bunch of YT videos. Wyze Thermostat with 2 wire connection PLUS a 24v AC to AC transformer works perfectly and takes munutes to install. Ready?: White wire to W1 on thermostat, Red wire to Rh. A 24v AC/AC transformer: one of the wires (absolutely doesn't matter which one) to C on the thermostat and the other one to Rc. They push in from the top (not the front where the thermostat pins plug in). Run the easy peasy Wyze setup and you're done! Remember: turn off the furnace breaker before starting this project. And give me a HELPFUL! 😎
