Restoring an old Mopar truck, I decided to replace an old single-barrel carb with a new 4-bbl unit. Needed new everything: Exhaust headers, intake manifold, carb, etc. I found a simple throttle cable mount on Amazon for only $20, and shopped hard for a customizable throttle cable. This worked perfectly, but is tricky. (1) Mount entire cable in car for fit-check, the remove inner cable from outer housing. (2) Wrap housing area to be cut in tight masking tape, mark clearly, & only cut SS braid with Dremmel cut-off wheel. Cut teflon core with razor blade. Carefully, mount the cable in the adjustable throttle cable end-piece and mount to carb. Should be snug & stable. (3) Run cable thru pedal, inside housing to carb, and clearly mark for cut-length (making sure it can travel deeply into holder - test fitting prior to cutting is important.) Once you know the depth, cut cable with shape wire cutters. If the cable frays, you're in trouble. I found you want to gently tap-weld the wire tip to seal it together. (4) Done correctly, you get a factory result. Do NOT over-tighten the aluminum fittings.
