Installation Steps

Installation:

  • Step 1: The metal rod over the fuel injectors is the fuel rail. Use the socket and ratchet to remove the bolts and brackets holding the fuel rail in place.
  • Step 2: Make sure the engine is cold enough to touch. Disconnect the battery.Remove plastic engine covers using appropriate socket. Set covers aside.
  • Step 3: Use pliers to disconnect the electrical connector on each injector.
  • Step 4: Lift the fuel rail off of the intake manifold, bringing the injectors with it.
  • Step 5: Examine the injector. If you see a small metal clip that looks like a staple, use a small flathead screwdriver to remove or depress the clip. Then grasp the injector and work back and forth while pulling to remove from the fuel rail. The injector and rail will drip, so have shop towels ready.
  • Step 6: Press the injector into the rail until it stops. Attach the metal clip, if equipped. Reattach the fuel rail. Line up all the injectors over their respective holes, then press each injector until they slide into place.
  • Step 7: Bolt down fuel rail. Reattach fuel line. Plug in fuel injector electrical connections. Reconnect battery.
  • Step 8: Turn the key to the on position and wait 10 seconds then check all the injectors for fuel leaks before turning to engine start. After the engine drops to the normal idle RPM, turn the engine off. Check all the injectors for fuel leaks again.

We inspected them before installing them and they looked new, so we installed them like we knew how and they leaked. At first a drop then more and more so after taking the intake manifold off for third time and redoing it and thinking it was the packings, we replaced the packing and still leaked. Final time we realized they had either a mold issue in Manufactuing or a bur on the Oring area. three were good we had to end up using the old ones and it worked. The cost was good but the labor it took to figure it out was not worth the cheaper price.

Bought these for my ranger, they seem to be working perfectly. Installing them was easy enough, no visible defects, gaskets were in good shape. Just don’t forget to remove the plastic covers that are on there to protect the tips.
