Perfect fit, easy installation

The installation process was easy even though there were no instructions provided. The mat has double-sided tape on the back to keep it in place while you insert the original Torx bolts. I found it helpful to remove and replace the bolts in sections. Once installed, the mat fits well but may require a bit more effort to close the tailgate initially, although it should settle over time. It took me about 25 minutes to complete the installation.

The first thing I noticed is this mat isn't a perfect fit. You may have to trim a little bit of an edge or two. The tailgate on my 2019 Tacoma Long bed already has an interior composite cover so this is really a redundant item. It didn't come with instructions then I realized I would have to remove all of the existing screws on the tailgate then reinstall them to hold the mat in place. The edges are secured by doubled sided tape which is not very good in my opinion. It is definately not 3M quality. Some people seem to like this item however I am not a fan.

First of all this is pictured as a replacement for the old plastic protector. It is not. Using double-sided tape it sticks to the existing plastic. It doesn’t lay flat and there is no way the double-sided tape will last very long. There is no reason to buy this. It’s a waste of time and money. I do not recommend this product.

Used this for my 2014 Tacoma PreRunner. Overall, the dimensions fit perfectly on the tailgate. This is more or less on the thing/lightweight side but has a nice rubber-like feel to it, which is perfect for not having items slip when placed onto the tailgate. 2 of the center screws did not align with the screws on my truck, but was an easy enough issue to overcome (simply drilled where I needed them to be). As the wholes are not pre-drilled, there's no opening left unused even if you have to adjust yours like I had to do. Overall, very satisfied with this product.

I've owned other mats, but this one has a nice texture to it. It installs directly with the factory bolts, and it protects nicely; as it's a thick mat. All in all a great addition to the Tacoma bed mat to provide complete bed protection.
