Just to note, YG-1 products are made in Korea. They are much better than cheap imports from some other countries. As I started making nicer and more complex projects I also started looking for alternatives to the cheaper tooling. After just a few purchased of YG-1 I am a big fan. I'm a home machinist as well as doing some volunteer work on a big restoration for the community. This tap (M8x1.25) is sharp and cut nice threads on a piece in which I had considerable time invested. I broken tap at that point, the last operation, would have been a huge loss of time. I was not disappointed and at this point any time I need a drill bit, spotting bit or tap I search to see what YG-1 offers firts.

I've spent countless hundreds on taps (mostly smaller, including many sets of the greenlee drill taps). I was so used to constantly backing them out at any resistance (and then still cursing as they snapped off in the hole) that I was honestly speechless when I let this one rip in a hole over an inch deep, and there was about as much resistance as enlarging a hole in soft wood by a 1/16th.If I lost this one, I'd gladly have paid 10x the current price to replace it - it blew away the taps I've bought in that price range (75-100) before.

I bought this for a project, building a grinder from steel plate and square tubing. I had to tap a lot of holes and didn't want to put too much faith in my Harbor Freight set. This thing worked perfectly tapping dozens of holes in 1/4 and 3/8" steel. I broke a couple of drill bits along the way, but the tap never even breathed hard. Excellent product!

I decided to try this tap after reading the reviews. I manufacture shaved ice machines which use an aluminum cast handwheel that is bored and tapped. I've always used a regular fluted tap but this was unbelievable! The cutting was effortless, almost no resistance when tapping on the lathe. Tapped over 400 handwheels and the last one was just as easy as the first.

Chip ejection is textbook flawless in one pass. These are completely worth the price. Why waste forcing the chips down when the entire thread is ejected in one pass at the top?
