This 8 speed manual shifter came from Yibeico and was priced at $60 when ordered. At this price range, I like this shifter better than the competition at the same price (namely the logitech and pxn offerings). This unit has metal construction, feels solid, and worked without any software.The shifter just worked. It was plug and play. Just map the gears in game and you're good to go. I had no issues with miss-inputs and functionality has been good.The shifting action is very notchy. The engagement is very pronounced. It reminds me of a shifter from a 60's muscle car, except it doesn't pop out of gear. The shifting action is harsh, but it has friction and feedback. The shift action is fairly short due to the short shaft length.The friction seems to be generated from a flat ring on the shaft of the shifter which contacts the bottom of the h pattern cover plate. The metal ring is wearing the plastic liner under the plate down fairly quickly. After just an hour the shifter movement had loosened up with a reduction in friction due to the plastic being worn down. A lot of white plastic dust was generated.When engaging a gear, the metal shaft passes through a metal gate consisting of two spring loaded bearings. This gives very good engagement feedback, you know when it is in gear. The shifting action is satisfying.When mounting the shifter it must be orientated so the cord exits from the front of the unit (facing the driver). The neutral position sits between 3rd and 4th gears. The unit has 8 gears (not 6) so it isn't symmetrical and the extra effort needed to get into the gear 7 or reverse gate feels different from the other 6 gears. Because of this when the unit is mounted upside down, the shifting action isn’t natural.The mount holes lined up with both my sim rig and wheel stands bolt hole patterns. The outer 4 holes may be used, or the threaded holes on the bottom of the base plate are available for attachment. The nuts and bolts for installation were included.Versus other $60 shifters this has metal construction vs plastic. It also has firm shifting action vs a toy like feel. Versus a $200 shifter it feels notchy and clunky.Overall I like this shifter. When sim racing older cars this feels right.

This gear shifter will up the driving/racing game. It feels like the real thing. This is for anyone that desires realism, precision, and control in your racing games. A fantastic addition for gaming experience. This gear shift box has a solid construction with strong materials that should last a very long time. The only thing I'm missing is the C clamp to attach to my desk. It is not included.
