Top half does not have a brass threaded insert - just plastic. The threads stripped out the first time I tried to use it. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

It does work great a little hard to use with the small brass knob. I will get a bigger knob to install on mine. Otherwise a great tool…

Adjustment screw almost impossible to turn. Wobbles side to side due to excessive free play where adjustment screw threads in.

Have not had the chance to use this yet, seems like it works well, the screw moved the string lifter up and down so I am sure you can change your bridges without having to go through the hassle of detuning and loosening strings. The string lifter comes with rubber feet which sit flush on the front of the violin I like to prepare my own bridges so I will screw the string lifter so that it is at a lower height than the bridge slide it next to the bridge and turn the screw clockwise so that it lifts the strings for a few seconds, remove the old bridge then place the new bridge in the same positition, unscrew the string lifter and slide it off the instrument, and voila your violin is ready to play, but check tuning first!! To be safe and to protect expensive strings I will not leave the string lifter on my instrument for too long. Other people may have a different suggestion on how to do this, but this is how I will use it.

I have only used once but it worked fine. A little cheaply made.

Just a plastic piece with metal screw that cannot lift strings. You can turn the screw to expand two pieces of plastic(top and bottom) but the plastic thread cannot hold the position if pressure applied - it just collapse. I would not buy even if it costs $5.
