They just don't make things like they used to look at this photo of an older T nut of the same size. They were so much more robust. I guess you can find them somewhere like the older ones but not on Amazon. Hopefully these will do the job and the heavy duty casters that are being mounted will not tear off.

Getting these off of Amazon I wasn't sure what to expect. I was happily surprised that they are sturdy, made of thick metal with clean threads. The plating looks even and there is no rust on any of them. This set has two of the sizes I use most often, 1/4 and 3/8ths.So far I'm happy with this order.

I used to tap wood to join it but it is inherently weak when using this method. These metal inserts make a connection very strong. You can use wood spade bits for recession the hole slightly to make the metal flange sit flush with the hole. Very sturdy hardware, I will be using more in the future.

I used these nuts for the spoil board on my CNC router. Installing these in the bottom of the board, the sleeves are short enough that they work great for hold down clamps, and with the short sleeve, even if you cut into the board a little, you don't risk your bit hitting the sleeve.

These 1/4"-20 t-nuts are accurately machined and arrive in a dedicated plastic box.The points are very sharp and the flange is angled (flat) correctly. Good fastener.
