I am currently in the process of running the hours up on this new hour meter to match an old failed one. The first and biggest issue I have with this new one are that the numbers don't properly align with the window, half of the next number shows. The second issue is that there is a fairly loud audible tick tick tick like a clock. The old VDO meter this replaced did not make any noise. The second issue isn't a big deal if a running engine is in the mix but if a person was timing something near sleeping areas this wouldn't be good. Otherwise the hour meter has around 250 hours on it and is working fine.

I replaced my digital hour meter because it went bad and before installing it I connected it to a 12 volt source to put the right amount of hours on and around 20 hours I took it off my 12 volt source and installed it on the golf cart so now if it ever goes bad at least I'll have a reading.. too bad the digital one went bad. The clips to hold the meter in or okay but I also used a zip tie just to make sure the meter stayed seated properly.

Easy to install hour meter, good for most yard equipment, which have batteries. The meter turns on and starts when equipment is powered up, so wiring, which some people find a bit scary is actually pretty straight forward. You can make up your own bracket to hold this meter or you can drill out a hole on dash of the equipment you're installing the meter on. I'm putting this on a small hand operated field mower so I know when to change the oil on it.Once you drill a hole that the meter slides through...it will rest on the rubber seal under the face of the dial. There is a square fitting that slides onto the back which you can tighten up to hold the meter securely in place. Then it's just a mater of wiring the meter to the battery.I like that this is a simple system and easy to install...not to mention it comes with all the connectors you need to install it (except wire).
