Getting flashback through the hose is easier than you might think. Having flashback arrestors will keep your tanks from blowing up. You should also have flashback arrestors in your torch. Many newer torches come with them already built in. If not, consider installing a pair where the hoses meet the torch.

I always install these one way b=valves on my oxy/acety torch sets to prevent any back feed or possible explosions. I normally install a smaller set at the torch handles, then this set at the gauge ends. When I was very young and worked construction, I had to collect body parts to place in an envelope from a worker on the commercial job site that was killed from a back-fire. I never forgot that and always make sure I go out of my way to not allow this same occurrence for myself. So much better safe than sorry.

I installed the fire arresters on my torch set. Luckily, I have not had to use them. I suppose they work great.
