I took a chance on this as a back up mic when the price dropped on Amazon. I had two Rode Podmics and replaced them with the Zoom. Just fits my voice better and gives that warm, studio sound quality for podcast recordings. It is truly the poor man's SM7B. Not it's equal for sure but price to value ration puts it in a the running. A note, use the windscreen and DEFINITELY by a shock mount, I recommend the:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H40VBVQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1with the windscreen, the shock mount and a decent boom arm (When you catch the sales you can still do under 100$ US. total) I promise you that your sound will be amazing.

I'd watched reviews on this mic and most are very positive about its sound quality, but negative regarding its handling noise. This mic wasn't meant to be used while manually handling it, and as long as you have no vibrations occuring on the desk or mount to which this mic is setup, this shouldnt be an issue.A mic vibration mount is highly recommended regardless, as you never know if you might accidentally bump your desk or boom arm. It will help reduce the noise.Overall this mic sounds incredibly nice. The included foam windscreen should always be used especially if you're getting close to the mic. The foam windscreen also helps to dampen the higher frequencies which are boosted for better voice intelligibility. Most will prefer it dampened with the windscreen for a better sounding voice, over the boosted intelligibility without.Overall this mic is an absolute bargain for its quality of sound, with the only downside (for some probably a dealbreaker) being its handling noise/mechanical noise characteristics.

I use this mic to Podcast remotely so it's XLR to USB and I use it on my MacBook Pro and I've noticed the quality of my recordings has gone up and the show is doing better. It's worth investing for good quality and a shock mount is best if you have a cheap mic arm.

This is a crazy good dynamic mic for $50. It has good noise rejection and great sound quality with lots of detail. It tends to have a bit of a darker sound, but I'd prefer a darker, rounder sound with less pronounced highs that I can EQ later than something that sounds harsher out of the box. From the side-by-side tests I've heard, this mic is on par (or better, depending on your preferences) with the Rode PodMic and Shure MV7x, the other popular XLR mics aimed at podcasters. It does have a few flaws, but for the price it's absolutely worth putting up with them. This mic desperately needs a shock mount, since noise transfers through the body very easily, especially through a boom arm mounted to a table. Zoom does not make an official one for some reason, but a decent quality one that fits can be easily found on amazon for about $10. The included windscreen also doesn't do an amazing job at plosive rejection, but the fix for this is to point the mic at a 45 degree angle toward your mouth instead of straight on.My last complaint is super minor - the thing is kind of ugly. It's just a regular black mic with a big bulky windscreen. It doesn't look cool, but if you're wanting high quality sound for the cheapest price possible, this is your best bet. I snagged mine on sale for $38 which was an unbelievable deal. I highly recommend this mic and have been constantly urging anyone in the market toward picking one up.

My wife and I wanted to try our hand at podcasting and so I purchased two of these microphones and ran them into a small mixing board. The sound quality on these things is phenomenal. Point them toward your mouth and they will pick up every word and not all the other sounds in and around the room. These are the best mics you can purchase without tripling the cost. 1000% recommended.

Para mi fue muy grato utilizarlo ya que esperaba menos, su patrón como es muy amplio en la práctica es muy efectivo. No se oye mal, y por el precio esta bastante bien.

A friend of mine let me borrow a set of these mics for a podcast style video shoot that I was producing, and I was blown away by the quality. The next day I ordered a couple of these for myself! I use a tascam X8 to do my audio recordings, and the only downside I can see on this mic is that it’s not externally powered so I had to set my recorder to Its highest gain settings to get a signal. But, the signal is very clean. These mics are very easy to set up, you literally take it out of a box and connect your XLR cable and you’re good to go. The only thing I would recommend is getting a good suspension set up so that you don’t receive any feedback from touching the mic or whatever the mic is placed on.

Bought this for my fiance and here's what he had to say!:I have been throughly impressed with this microphone from the second I unpacked it! As a poscaster of over 5 years I've used tons of different microphones and if you're looking for a dynamic mic this is the one for you. The response is great, the tonality of the microphone is warm and rounded while still cutting through the mix. It does an incredible job cutting out background noise and with the foam cover cuts out those unwanted plosives. The clip to attach it to any stand or boom arm is quite sturdy. My only negative thoughts on this microphone is the handling noise, it's very responsive to touch. That being said once you have it set up or are gentle it's never an issue. I tend to fidget with my microphone alot and if anything it may help teach mic control a little more!Final thought: For the price point Zoom has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this microphone. Whether you're looking to upgrade from a cheap mic, a blue yeti or looking for a less expensive alternative to the Shure SM7B this mic is for you!

After looking at multiple options, both USB and XLR, I settled on the zoom zdm-1. There were more 'popular' options out there. Especially good USB mics, which didn't ned an interface (i also bought a Focusrite Scarlett Solo). However, I've been using Zoom guitar effects pedals since i was 10, and these things are built to last, and have good, easy, responsive software to take care of any problems that may arise. I started a podcast during quarantine : https://open.spotify.com/show/3acJwjkh7BL3nFjBKEbXMQ?si=2rSq-5-wQk6GiXqiCzlchwI was using a lapel mic, and the sound quality difference was so apparent and surprising it blew me away.CONS: It's a bit heavy and wider than other mics. This is a problem, because it's not easy to got a shock mount that fits a mic that, well. . .girthy.You will need to buy an interface (that converts the audio signal to the usb) and that may increase your cost, however if you're serious about recording audio, or any instruments, it's a VERY worthwhile investment.PROS: Built like an absolute tankComes with a foam filter (better than the pop filter because those work better in already isolated environments)Feels great in the hand, you could easily walk around with this and record, and it feel a bit like a proIt's fantastic at recording vocals and acoustic guitar. I've used the same mic to record audio that's harmonized from both left and right sides of the mic. For guitar, it just needs to be close to the instrument (like all other mics)
