Yes, the white Zy908 is compatible with square. But please save yourself some time and connect it with a ethernet cable if you are using an iPad with square.I was trying to use the USB connection with an iPad and it wasn't working. The manual that comes on the USB drive with the printer, is super basic. It basically tells you to download the zywell app on iOS and that's it. No further information or instructions. After contacting support and showing them pictures of my setup, they told me USB was not compatible with iOS and to use an ethernet cable connection.I was able to get this printer connected with an ethernet cable and using an iPad with Square 🙂.I gave 4 stars because the manual provided did not have detailed or more instructions, and I had to contact support for help.

I am having a good experience so far. I bought this to use on a dedicated POS station for tradeshows, flea markets and craft fairs. If you are in a high traffic retail or commercial environment, I don’t know how well this would hold up for you and you might want to upgrade to something more beefy. This unit is a bit bulky but still a good size and doesn’t take up too much real estate on a small table or something. It takes fairly standard sized rolls which are cheap and easy to source. The unit was not too hard to set up, there was a bit of trial and error, but I was able to get it working without a lot of downtime messing with settings and drivers and troubleshooting issues. It prints quickly and the resolution is quite good. I guess the quality of receipt paper you use has something to do with that but I don’t use anything special or expensive. There is no wifi or Bluetooth so you will have to be tethered. I can’t speak to compatibility with the various payment platforms out there.

This printer is a fantastic receipt printer that is really fast and clear text and barcodes print dark making it very easy for barcode scanners to scan. It comes with a USB thumb drive that contains everything you need to print from all sorts of platforms including Raspberry Pi. What really impressed me was when I connected this to my WiFi router and then opened up the Square App and it instantly displayed printer connected. Once I configured it in the Square App to print receipts, it was just seamless with no jumping though endless screens, it just worked right out of the box and power supplied to it. It does come with a USB printer cable and an adapter to convert to USB-C just in case. It also came with a sample size of receipt paper for you to test out the printer right away. It's really an excellent printer and simple to operate. It does have a cutter as well so you will always get a nice clean cut in the receipts you print for that quality look.

My biggest issue with ordering things like this for my business is finding ones that will integrate with my Square setup, it is always a hassle and even sometimes when things say "square compatible", they really aren't, or are only with a very specific setup. This works perfectly with my android tablet running the square app hooked up to a Square Terminal card reader. All I had to do to set it up was connect and ethernet cord to the receipt printer and make sure that it and my tablet were on the same network. Then you simply go into the square app on the tablet, go into your settings, go to printers, search for printer, and it should pop right up! If you have any issues, make sure that they are on the same network, and the receipt printer is powered on. Printer is fast, cuts the receipt itself (you don't need to rip it), and is reliable, I have yet to have even a simple glitch or disconnect. It comes with a very small starter roll of receipt paper, so go ahead and order yourself some 3 1/8 in. wide receipt paper with this.
