Because the metal quality of the bolt provided is not of high grade, the head on the hex stripped off when using a 12 point box wrench. I replaced the bolt with grade 8 and was successful in flaring the garlock drain into place. This tool worked for my purpose after my upgrade but I wouldn't recommend for everyday use.

This flaring tool worked well on the first try. It is a bit crude but functional. All the parts are well constructed. I recommend it.

If you're going to mess about with old boats you should definitely have one of these it works great.

I annealed my copper drain tube to make the flaring prosses easy the tool worked perfect on the first try
