Meh. Not impressed. The tip is not sharp enough to drill into rock without bouncing about quite a bit. Keeps hopping off the rock. Probably fine for CMB, but not recommended for rock. I prefer the Hilti even granted how much more it costs.

This is a very long bit and would recommend pre-drilling with a shorter bit first. Any vibration will cause the bit to wobble. In my case, I used a Bosch 4 point 18in drill bit to pre-drill the pilot hole through the concrete. Once the pilot hole is drilled and clear, then I used the long bit as-much-as possible. This 39in bit is narrower flute than that the Bosch bit. Maybe this is a good thing due to the stress on the battery drill hammer getting down that far into a hole. Once I got past the concrete and bed rock into the soil, the motor handled it ok. If there was more rock, then maybe upsizing to a SDS-Max system would be required. In my case, I got lucky and the bottom soil was clay with some rock. This allowed me to get the 8ft ground rods down half way before breaking out the 10lb hammer. Yes, I know about the SDS-Max ground rod bit but I am not going to pay that kind of money for just 2 holes. The only other con was in relation to the flute filling up with the clay soil. Since it is smaller, it filled up pretty quickly.Bottom line, I got the job done as I had hoped for.
