it's not very ergonomic, but it does move material well. leaves irregular tool marks, but easy to control and clean. not very good for metal, leaves deep grooves.

This file works well for a general all-purpose file for my needs in my garage. I like that the file and handle are all one piece, and the handle is fairly big, so it makes holding and using the file easy. The file takes off burs and sharp edges with a few swipes going across the steel just like all of the other files do that I have used over the last decade or so.

This is not a “fine” tool. But it does the job for rough work. Nice weight and very thick.

The ultimate in irony, this file, needs filing. The edges on the handle have a slightly sharp edge that if you are not careful could cause you to cut yourself.The metal actually seems somewhat light, for filing metal but it does work on metals for light duty deburring.Considering the cost of this I can not really recommend this product at this time.

I like files with handles built in. I don't know the longevity of the file but it is nice and sharp with 2 primary cutting sides. This should work well on metal or other softer materials.

The tang of this file looked like it had just been tempered at the foundry prior to shipping and did not appear to have any finish work done to the edges. There is no plastic or wood handle or grip. Still, the teeth are sharp and the rasp pattern on the other side seems symmetrical. A bit of gaffers tape on the handle section helps quite a bit with gripping the file. Ours had a slight uneven section towards the end of the file but does not severely affect the abrasive strength. Good, overall file that does the job well.

This 10in metal file is pretty great but the quality isn't the best.It arrives in a plastic bag with only the file inside.If you can zoom in on my pictures, you will see there are numerous issues. First of all, I wish at least the handle was a little rounded to make it more comfortable to hold instead of the square edges.These files must be made by laser cutting or stamping them out of a giant sheet because they don't clean off the edges. There are numerous sharp edges and at the tip of it, there is excess melted metal that is still there from manufacturing.The pattern that you use to do the filing is also low quality. As you can see on one side, they tried to do hatching in two directions but one of the directions ended up being longer than the other. So towards the handle, is clearly just one angle of the lines instead of being fully both ways.Overall, this is a low quality file that actually needs work for you to file cleanly due to the sharp and unfinished edges. I'd probably pass on this if I knew it was going to be like this.

Files are like clamps to me: you can never have enough. And this file is a great addition to the collection. Hard steel, great value, cuts well, is easy to use with casting marks filed.
