Terrible quality metal tube, with much too small a diameter to slide the rope in. Once pulled in it cannot be pulled out with ease. Cannot be used as designed. Buy a higher quality version.

Obviously the purpose of these is to start fires. I use it mainly for camping but I also use it on the fireplace in my house. It's better than most conventional Firestarters because I can ignite the flame and then move the fire to where I need it. Then, once I'm satisfied I can extinguish it quickly.

The tender ropes light easily and will burn consistently. I will also mention that I recommend fraying the end of the rope and making it decently fluffy since that will make lighting it much easier. I usually will rub the end of the rope on a rock to do that.

This wick easily burst into flame, when properly fluffed. Easily good for dozens of lights. A couple drops of sparingly applied lighter fluid, on the end of the wick, make this a very lightable firestarter. A perfect addition to any tinder box.

Lighting up a cord like this allows for easier camp fire starting. Simply use it until the tinder is on fire or the fire is going and pull the cord back into the tube to put it out.If you have a lighter or matches these are easy to start. Then they keep burning as long as it takes to start a fire burning. It saves on lighter fuel and matches. If you have to use a spark from a ferro rod be sure to spread out the cord fibers so it lights easily with plenty of air around the fibers that are hit by sparks. If necessary some of the cord tips can be cut off and piled up to catch sparks.Fast Easy Simple

I wanted to love these—however, we just got back from a three-night camping trip, and I was disappointed in this product. It worked okay to help us start the fires. Two issues I had were: First, it doesn’t hold a flame, it just burns as an ember, and you blow on it near very fine kindling to start the fire. Second, once you pull it in to the sleeve to put it out or store it, it is difficult to push it back out because it it not rigid enough and the cord is larger than the sleeve diameter, so it does not push in the bottom and out the top. If you get these, plan on extinguishing them while leaving enough out the working end to be able to pull out more.

What a great idea. Fray the end, hit it with a spark (from a ferrocerium rod), and you have a long burning match. You can easily control the size of your flame/put it out by sliding the aluminum tube down/up.Lights easily, long burn time, easy control and extinguishing for reuse.

They light quick with a good spark and a must for any go bag.
