These come vacuum packed and they looked small when first opened. After dipping in water though, they plumped up to a very nice shape. They aren't really round - more oval. I like that because I can get 4 fingers across the width without having extra bulk I don't like. They aren't the most absorbable sponges. I like that but friends who used them wanted them to hold more water. The material doesn't feel like other sponges I have. One of the other potters in my studio said they feel more like sponges used for makeup. We both agreed that they may not be really durable but, with 100 of them, I feel like it will be fine.
