I bought these for my Dell PowerEdge R630, which has an embedded X520/I350 network card with dual 1G Ethernet ports and dual 10G SPF+ slots (Intel 82599ES controller).I have bought many, many 10Gtek SFP+ transceivers over the past several years (primarily for MikroTik devices), and I have never had a single problem with them. However, this is the first time that I bought a pair of these that came in a nifty little tin. Completely unnecessary, but a nice touch nonetheless! The insides are removable, so you can use the tin for anything you want. Neat!

My switch has 2 10 Gig ports I thought I would never be able to use, they were for connecting switches together. Now they are connecting my 2 servers to all of my other devices, with maximum throughput to all of my computers. All I did was add an inexpensive pcie card to the servers and away it all went. Plug and play. Amazon has a return policy, and you could buy them to

10Gtek is my default brand for transceivers on the cheap. They are reliable and compatible, which is what you should expect from such device. This one works well in my pfSense box with an uplink to ONT for a while now. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent little transceiver, and it fired up instantly when I plugged it into an Aruba 1930 switch, which quickly noticed it wasn't an Aruba component. It left a "non-compliant SFP inserted" error in the log, and the error beacon began flashing and has done so ever since. The transceiver, however, is working perfectly. Since the switch is in a closet, I don't care which lights blink as long as it's working. The transceiver has provided error-free gigabit service since it was installed. Very nice quality.

For those with modems which have a 10Gbps Ethernet port, this is a perfect SFP module to link to your router. I use the SFP module in my Mikrotik router and connect my Bell modem's 10Gbps Ethernet port to it, allow my router/switch to access all of my Internet bandwidth. Works perfectly with Mikrotik RB4011IGS.

Took a chance to see if these would work on EX series Juniper switches, worked perfect. I have them in both 2300 and 2200 and each recognize as 10Gb modules, works immediately after inserting. I did halt the switch prior to installation so a full boot recognized but they do work simply inserting while running.

I am using four of these so far with Cable Matters 10Gb 40Gb Multimode Duplex 50/125 OFNP Fiber Cable (OM3 Fiber Optic Cable / LC to LC Fiber Patch Cable) to use with Four Luxul AMS-4424P switches in stacked mode and it works flawlessly. For those who do not know, managed switches that support stacked mode and ARE being used in stack mode, act as one huge switch where you only need the IP of the master switch and only will be logged into it's web server. Firmware updates, reboots etc will affect all of them at once yet still allow fine grained port settings for each switch in the stack. VLANs apply to the whole stack not just one switch. This model of switch I use only allows 10gb connections between switches via SFP. The thing I like about the MMF I used is that it is so much less bulky than copper and collisions are impossible since there is one fiber for each direction so they can be very far apart and still behave as one huge switch in one spot. These SFP modules are an incredible value to the point where you may second guess, well don't. Try them! They aren't even advertised for my switch as being compatible yet they clearly are. How many people use Luxul AV type managed switches with rear entry (the reason I bought them)? Not a lot I'm sure just as would be with Pakedge products (also have rear entry AV models).

--- Update 12.17.2018---I had a pleasant and very professional conversation with 10Gtek. They immediately offered me a full refund. Their engineering team managed to replicate the problem and are currently investigating. Once the problem is fixed I will update the overall rating to 5 stars.--- Review ---I am having a strange problem with these transceivers and I have no explanation. If you have any idea please share.I have two computers directly connected with these transceivers via 1m fiber cable.Computer "A" is Dell Precision workstation with Intel X520-DA2Computer "B" is Supermicro X9DR7 with Intel X520-DA2Every time "B" gets restarted or powered on, the audio on computer "A" stutters for 1 second and at the same time the picture freezes. It is the most noticeable when watching youtube videos. This happens a second or two after you press the power button on computer "B" - in other words it has nothing to do with the OS on computer "B". On "B" I am running XenServer and I am passing through X520-DA2 to one of the VMs. The moment I power on this particular VM the problem appears again - the sound stutters and the picture freezes for a second on computer "A". I did dozens of restarts and power ons/offs and got really frustrated. The moment I unplug the fiber cable from the transceiver and there is no stutter. I don't even have to unplug the transceiver from the network card. The moment I plug the fiber cable back in and the problem returns. Although the 10Gb communication works between both computers and although I will not be restarting the server very often, the stuttering audio and frozen picture is unacceptable for me.After a month I decided to see what will happen if I use Passive Direct Attach Copper cable. Got one from the same seller (10Gtek) and same length - 1m. And to my surprise I no longer can reproduce the issue. It looks like the DAC cable solves my problem. The question is why?Unfortunately I cannot return the transceivers since one month has already passed. I will gladly update the review and the rating if someone gives me an explanation and a solution.
