A few disappointing things first: The holders don't come with carbide installed, so you will use two out of the case. Second, at the full extension of this bar, it is unlikely to work well. It is just not still enough. At about 3", it works great.Overall, not bad. I'd probably buy again.

This is not a 1/2" boring bar. Its 12mm so it won't work and wobble if you need any kind of precision, that one set screw won't be able to hold back the cutting force.

Like a lot of the other tooling coming out of China, the boring bar and tool holder are very well made. They’re hardened (I haven’t measured the hardness yet), have a glossy black oxide finish, and the insert seats firmly in the pocket. I don’t use these for precision turning, so I can’t comment on the repeatability of the insert pocket. The inserts that are included were the biggest surprise; I had never heard of the brand but have since ordered a couple of different types from them because they look (and work) like inserts that cost over $10 each. They’ve got dual coatings, the sides have been ground, and the bottoms were lapped. I measured both the length and thickness of all 10 and they all were within 0.0002” of each other. The way that I see it, I got a good deal on some nice inserts and got the tool holders for free.

Got the job done.. 1st time using carbide inserts... Wear much better than HSS tooling... Mabe better insertswould provide a better surface finish but for the money, this was a good purchase... would recommend to a friendStill on first side of 1st insert.

So far the facing tool is cutting well. The carbide is holding up. I have not used the boring bar yet, but it seems well made.
