I'm reviewing the half-ton chain pulley with 20 feet of chain. I used it for lowering organ speakers (50-100 lbs each, nestled in a cargo net) through a narrow opening from a church attic to the main floor below. The system came with a certificate indicating it was static load-tested at 1500 lbs and a 6-foot rise. The item is a light weight alloy, making it portable (carried in a nice canvas bag that the manufacturer supplies) and easy to hang on a sturdy eye bolt in an overhead rafter (my configuration). The pulley comes with a toggle for moving the chain UP or DOWN. When the toggle is moved to either position, it allows for ratcheting the load in the desired direction. The unit has a single pulley wheel so it's a slow process to move a load over a distance. The toggle can be moved into a neutral position with no load so that slack can be taken out of the chain (e.g., to rapidly return the emptied cargo net to the attic for the next load). I'm not sure if some of the other reviewers understood the operation of the pulley system or if they somehow received a defective item.I used the hoist on four separate days, building up my confidence around its usage because I experienced some quirks around its operation with the first unit I received (and returned in exchange for a replacement). With the first unit, a few times when lowering under load, the brake (reportedly a double pawl) allowed an uncomfortable amount of slippage before engaging and my heart rate soared each time. My replacement unit behaved much better, but I still have some concerns over the brake engagement. As a result, I never took my opposing hand off of the slack chain (my working hand, of course, is ratcheting the chain in the requisite direction). When I ratcheted the cargo up to maneuver it over the attic opening, and then switched the toggle to the down position (going through the middle neutral position), I had some brief slippage before the brake engaged (and my heart rate skyrocketed in the opposite direction). My overall experience suggests I give it an overall good rating so far. I would need to use it more extensively to build my confidence in the item. Perhaps I'll return to this review and update it after I use it again. In the meantime, I'll be looking for additional user reviews.

Review for: YATOINTO 1/4Ton Come Along Mini Chain HoistAs a DIYer, I work on a lot of different things in my garage. I actually have a piece of 'unistrut' bolted to the ceiling with a couple of 4-wheel dollies which I feel can comfortably support up to 150 lbs or so, so this 1/4 ton chain host will fit right in.The 10' long chain has a hook on one end and a handle on the other end. Keep it mind there is a 'ratcheting' lever attached to the hoist, and it works like a socket wrench, but there are three positions - Up, Down & Neutral. In the up position, you can pull on the handle side of the chain to take out the slack, which is very useful when you're first hooking something up.Lastly, I don't see any 'flaw' in this design. With the selector lever in the UP position, I can hang my full body weight (190 lbs) from the hook side, and it is not going anywhere. If you want to slowly lower something down, you keep the selector switch on UP and the ratcheting handle will spin around once freely and then start to ratchet the load down. The only time you would use the Down position is if you want to freely pull the chain through to get more slack, etc. (It sounds like another reviewer doesn't know how it works)

I like this tool .I use these little things to drag anything .Very good price,It's priced in size right for the home user. different from others is that it has a carry bag , which is very convenient for my use. Would certainly reccomend.
