It disintegrated after one fire in my fireplace. I am very upset I cannot even return it for a replacement

The grate has to be put together. It does not stay together. Constantly falling apart. Piece of garbage.

You MAY be able to use this with a single, small 3 hour compressed log, but I can't even say that for sure. Got it for the fireplace, and I wouldn't trust it to hold kindling. The weight and size of the box was a giveaway. A fireplace grate that comes in a box slightly larger than aluminum foil, weighing less than five pounds is not going into my fireplace. Where it's going is in the garbage.

We were looking for an attractive display idea for our fireplace because the flue liner is cracked and we can't use it at the moment. We got this and some birch logs and some battery powered fairy lights and made a visually pleasing scene where once was a black hole of sadness. It won't keep you warm but it looks nice. The grate was easy to assemble despite there being no instructions. It took less than 3 minutes to align the grooves on the legs to the grooves on the cross bars and fully assemble it. Pro tip: start at one end and work to the other. Putting a cross bar on each end first took away and play you have to get good alignment. A few of the cross bars needed a light tap to fully engage the legs, but otherwise no tools were necessary. I was worried it wouldn't be sturdy once assembled without the use of screws but it is very sound.

Would be zero. Fire hazard. Very bad. If you move wood you could lift it apart causing a cascade of burning logs to fall. No thank you.
