I think that there are better units out there but for the price of this one I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better performing combo. It heats up fast and has lasted me for quite awhile using it almost weekly for about a year now. I'm just a hobbyist and not a professional but I am generally pleased with the ease of use this things has provided me. Straight forward and easy to use. Much better than your regular old soldiering iron. The hot air gun comes in clutch especially when trying to desolder components from a pcb.

I bought this soldering iron as a gift. I already own a soldering/de-soldering station of the same type which I like very well.

The kit itself works great, but I found that the provided solder wire not having a flux core makes it unusable in most cases. Unless you have your own rosin flux and know how to use it, you'll find it quite impossible to solder anything. I won't remove a star for that, but it's a fair warning ☺️

I got this in because my old setup is getting outdated. I had this item for almost 2 months before I opened it. Once I did it happen to be when I needed it the most for an emergency. Well when I opened I was really impressed with the features and adjustments for the solder & the heat gun. Well needless to say the solder iron did not work. SO I had to order another iron and this one is a 6 point connector which made it a little more difficult to find but I did and it works. So the good thing about this is that I know I can always have another iron brand work with this station.I am only giving a lower rating based on the iron did not work right out of the box and had to be replace. I am very happy with it's performance so far. Good value and I recommend this item.

I was skeptical at first when looking for a decent soldering station for my auto shop to replace BMW MOSFETTS in the engine computers. First off it was packaged really well with no broken or missing pieces. Second, it was easy for the tech to operate and use this station for the first time and it went very well. I have spend hundreds on well known name brand setups that were over complicated, difficult to maintain heat ranges and were bulky. Definitely a must for those who are starting out with electronic components.

The hot air gun was defective. Supposed to supply a steady stream but it would just pulse the fan 1-2 interval. Notice when it did the temperature sense light would come on. The pencil was ok. Cheap plastic and grip a allowed more heat then that was comfortable. The best part were the Tweezers. If they would fix the fan I’d probably keep it. But when you watch it go liquid then solid back to liquid, makes it real freaking hard to rework it.As for the other accessories I would just recommend you buy it separate And not a kit like this. Buy a higher end unit. I wouldn’t recommend even for beginners to easy to tear a pad with this.As for the seller, taking over 24hrs is unacceptable and they responded with a lessor question. I’m not willing to keep a defective products if it takes that long to respond.Fortunately Amazon does stand behind and it is being turned. I will be looking yet for another rework station.

UPDATE: The heat gun has stopped working, and I am as yet unable to contact support.***The device itself is great; the iron and reflow gun heat up quickly, hold their temperature, and perform flawlessly thus far. My Only complaint with it is that the blue number displays aren't tinted, and are very hard to read in direct light. I suggest tinted display windows, or using a different colour for the display; blue was not a good choice. EDIT: I 3D printed a single 0.3mm layer of black TPU 37.5mm x 19.5mm, and they stick on with static. It makes the screen completely readable! See attached photo.Unfortunately, and expectedly, the accessories that come in the package are mostly garbage. The desoldering wick is aluminum or steel, is very rigid, and doesn't work very well. The "copper" scrubbing puff is just as bad. The soldering tips are pretty useless as well; one of the angles tips was burned up after a couple of hours. There is a tiny little box containing what appears to be yellow broken glass, but it's not sharp. It might be some kind of resin, but I don't read Mandarin or Cantonese. It's kind of hard to mess up tweezers, so they get a pass. But the tiny amount of leaded solder, and pretty much all of the accessories are crap.Again, the reworking station itself works very well, just don't expect anything else in the package to be any good.

This is a very tidy little unit that works well as advertised. It is perfect for occasional use in a home shop but it likely won't stand up to daily commercial use.Plusses:- Individual temp readouts and on/off switches for iron and air gun- Reasonably high power/effectiveness (iron can heat decent loads and gets up to temp quickly from idle- Kit is complete with everything you *need* for low volume soldering and reworking and then some.- Cooldown with power off works properly. This is rare IMO. Note that there is no "master power" on the mains. Please plug this into a switched power bar and remember to turn it off once the unit has cooled down and you are not going to be using it for a while!Minuses (i.e. why it isn't suitable for constant use by a pro):- No apparent way to disable sleep mode on the iron (odd IMO)- Iron pen handle is very basic and all plastic. I just know it is eventually going to fail where the tip holder threads on. No insulating collar.- I suspect the displayed temperatures are quite inaccurate (low) but I have not confirmed this except by experience.- Tips (many!), tweezers, supplies are all pretty basic and made of weak/cheap materials so you'll want to replace the ones that you actually use (but it is nice to have the assortment on day one)For occasional work, it will do the job well and is a bargain for the money. I'm very happy.

So I ordered a 858D from somewhere else on Amazon and honestly it was pretty poor, this however is pretty alright, not perfect but more than usable.I've opened up ever part of the unit and inspected it, and I'm happy enough with it, everything is wired up right and grounded out so a set up from the 858D I had returned. The heat gun itself uses a ceramic core, so it's more consistent than a Mica core on a cheaper unit, it is grounded out with the wire being soldered to the very top end where it's cool, I'd have liked to have seen a tab where it's terminated so when you replace the core you can just take the whole enclosure for the core out.If you have a rattling fan it's just misaligned open it up and put the fan and grommet in the top part that has no PCB and put it back in place, my fan did not rattle before I took it apart to inspect, so it's an installation error. The soldering iron is a lot better than I was expecting, I have a KSGER 12T 3.1S on that way, but it won't be here for a while due to Canada post being slow as possible, so it's nice to have an iron in the meanwhile so I don't have to use my horrible old one.It heats up fast around 10 seconds or so to usable so pretty good, all the tips are cheap but useful, dirt cheap to replace over T12 tips even if those are far better but still a good AUX Iron. When you get your unit to NEED to calibrate it with a temperature probe using the pots inside the unit on the face plate. If you need to calibrate your probe just use rolling boiling water since it's more or less 100C always, The hot air gun is pretty easy to set but if you don't have a soldering iron probe it may be a pain to do, but it's worth the effort, it may take you an hour to set your calibration. The unit itself is nice enough, cheap in the way it's ABS plastic but in other ways very nice to use, If you intend to use this for long amounts of time and constantly all day I'd consider adding in a Fan inside the unit to cool the transformer.

The iron and hot air both heat up very quickly. There's a safety feature on the air that it won't turn on if it's been removed from the holder. If you turn it on it starts the hot air as soon as it's picked up, if it's turned on with it out of the holder it won't start until it's placed in the holder and removed again.Once the hot air is no turned off and placed back in the holder it stops heating and runs the fan until it's cooled off, very nice touch.I appreciate knowing safety was a concern when it was engineered. The only thing I don't like is the display blinks periodically when the machine is off. I suppose it's not a terrible feature, just sort of reminds me of an old video arcade game trying to lure me over to play with it, at least it doesn't play 8 bit music to get my attention.
