I honestly wish it hadn't taken me until I was almost 40 to learn about gaffer's tape! I made the mistake in the past of leaving a roll or two of duct tape around our printing company. The next thing I know, random employees will use it to fasten just about anything and I'm left with adhesive goo in places where it doesn't belong. Gaffer's tape is the solution to these problems!Well it's intended use is for temporarily affixing cords, wires, etc in concert venues, I find this is so useful for a variety of uses. I've used it for taping jigs into machines, holding covers in place temporarily, marking stripes or sections on a concrete floor, and so many other things. In every case, the tape holds well as long as it's needed, but removes easily and cleanly when the time comes. This particular brand of tape has been just as good as most of the others I've used and has worked perfectly for me!

Gaffer tape is what makes the world go 'round. For those who don't know what gaffer's tape is, it's what's used by film and TV professionals, for taping down cables. With a cloth backing, it's as durable as duct tape, but the benefit is that it looks nicer, and doesn't leave tape residue. THIS is what you want to tape cords and cables down with. And it's durable. We had some one the tattered edge of the carpet in a house we lived in, and even in a high traffic area, it lasted 10 years.

This tape is working out pretty well. I'm not a "gaffer" I'm simply someone who's dissatisfied with masking tape. This is cloth, so it's a lot stronger than masking tape. The type of glue makes it emovable from everything I've tried it on. There seems to be *more* glue on this tape than on typical masking tape, so it's stickier while still being removable and (so far) not leaving a residue. So far it's very good. I'm wondering how it behaves with long-term tapings. Is it still removable? Will it stain the surface (eg. wall paint) like some masking tape? Will heat affect its stickiness or the removability of the glue?

I have now encountered three new sellers with this same product. It would appear that some manufacturer has convinced their sellers that they are selling dirt cheap gaffers tape when the tape is, in fact, not that.Gaffers tape is a “heavy cotton cloth pressure-sensitive tape with strong adhesive and tensile properties”. As someone who uses gaffers tape everyday for stage production and related work in audio and video, I am quite familiar with it.This tape has more in common with duct tape than it does gaffers tape. There does not appear to be any threads, it does not stick the same (not as well) and it does not appear to be pressure sensitive. I can say that duct tape leaves more residue than this tape, but that is all this tape has going for it.Since it is not gaffers tape and it is not duct tape, I question what kind of chemicals are part of this tape’s construction. It undoubtedly has its uses, but I can not recommend it.

If you are a sim racer that has used a triple monitor setup, you know how hard they can be to get aligned perfectly. When you do FINALLY get them aligned, there really isn’t a mechanism to fully “lock them in.” That’s where this beautiful tape comes in. This black tape is very high quality. It’s soft, but tough. It’s sticky, but doesn’t leave a residue. I peeled it off several times to readjust my monitors and each time I reapplied it, it adhered just as well as the first time. Of course I could’ve used another piece of tape, but I’m cheap and didn’t want to waste any. If you need to close any seams or block any light, this is the tape for you.Update: after a few days the tape started to fail. I came home from work and found once piece in the floor.

I’d never heard of gaffer tape until I complained to a neighbor about the residue that duct tape left behind the electronics cabinet that my TV sat on. Wanting an AV computer setup, I connected a mini-PC to that TV. The cabinet contains my router and UPS and is located in the center of the house. A TV, a router, and now a PC in one location require quite a few cables. I needed a way to secure them to the back of the cabinet so they didn’t show. He recommended that I look into gaffer tape to assist with cable management as it holds without leaving residue when removed. The HUDLL tape has the feel of cloth and was difficult to rip. I found it easier to get the length needed using scissors to cut. The tape seemed as difficult to pull off the roll as duct tape. Its adhesion was less strong but enough to hold the bundle of cables to the back of my electronics cabinet. I removed a small piece from the cabinet as a test and, as my neighbor claimed, the tape left no residue. I’m sold on gaffer tape.Since it doesn’t leave a residue, I plan on using gaffer tape in my woodworking shop to hold pieces together for gluing.

This black gaff tape is approximately the same quality as other brands I've used in the past. The tape is very pliable to wrap around cords or to attach rugs and covers to hard surfaces, while also being adequately thick and easy to tear. The roll itself is a little smaller / shorter than most, but that's not out of line with the claim of 30 yards, when standard rolls are usually in the 50 yards / meters length range. The adhesive does not stay behind on any surface I've attached it to. My only reason to avoid a full 5-star rating is that the adhesive seems a little weak. I'm usually tearing my fingerprints off after spending a whole day using this stuff at a show or event, but this tape hardly sticks to my fingers at all. Hard to say how long it will hold to whatever I attach it to, but for short-term use it's been fine so far.
