Would give it zero stars if permitted. Barely made contact with top of piston and the bolt tip sheared of and ended up in my cylinder. This junk just cost me hundreds of dollars in gaskets now that I will be removing top 1/2 of motor to retrieve the piece. Highly DO NOT recommend!

These TDC locaters are reasonably well made, and should be sufficient for the job. I was surprised that the threads on the adjustable part of the locaters is SAE coarse 3/8-16, not a finer thread, nor is the thread snug, so the screw could move if you are not careful turning the crankshaft.I ground the end of one of the screws to a round profile in an attempt to prevent denting the piston top as easily as with the corner of the screw thread as supplied.

I build custom motors for resto-mods, custom cars and trucks and high performance applications with power adders. Timing is important on all engines, but it is critical on high HP, high compression and forced induction applications. I learned early on, never trust what you didn’t check yourself. Timing fences and timing marks are not always in the correct place on modifications. An inexpensive tool and 20 minutes can save you thousands of dollars and several hours of labor!The threads are cut well and the tool operates smoothly!

I’m glad it came with two the first one bent so bad I almost didn’t get it out of the head. I finally made my own center bolt out of a grade 8 bolt. I was rolling the motor over with a 3/8 ratchet and didn’t want to ding piston but it still bent bad didn’t mark piston but folded over the 3/8 center bolt. Pay the extra and get a brand name or guy out a plug and tap your own save your money and time with this one.
