1. The wick on the top of these candles comes slightly bent sideways or laying flat on the candle, and there is a purpose for that. Just place it in the holder, THEN pull up the wick to light it.
2. If the wick straightens itself out on top in the first minute of burning, causing the bottom to fall out, which in turn causes the candle to extinguish itself, what can do?
Hold a match under the tin circle bottom for a few seconds allowing it to melt into the bottom of the candle's wax. That will then hold the wick firmly in place for the life of the candle.
3. Pour a small layer of water in the bottom of the candle holder, just enough to cover the bottom glass. This makes it so much easier to pull the melted wax out once the candle has finished burning.

I purchased these because the title said black candle however they are not black at all but more like a black cherry color or blood red. Either way it's false advertisement because they are not black.

I ordered a 36 pack of black votives. The box states they are black, but candles are actually burgundy. These were suppose to be part of my daughter's wedding decor so the color was important. They seem solid and we're all in perfect condition.

I have ordered these candles twice. The first order I received, they were great. A nice, solid black color and they burned beautifully. The second time, not so great. More of a blackish red color and they don't burn for more than a few minutes without going out. I even tried pulling the wick out and putting in a bigger one, still went out. Something about the wax is just not right. So for the first batch, I'd go with five stars. Second one, no stars since I now have a box of candles that won't burn at all. Buyer beware, at least with the black candles.
