I ordered this for occasional short trips in a small compact car with limited luggage space, especially when all seats are occupied, such as pick-ups at the airport, or for carrying extra gear when tabling at a public event.TWO IMPORTANT POINTS- Soft Bag w/o Frame - In actual use, these products almost never look like the illustrations. Instead, the actual shape reflects what you put in them. How you tighten the load depends on what's inside. Opening and closing - and properly securing - is far more complex than with a hard shell.- Reduced Fuel Economy - Anything added to the exterior of a car lowers the mileage - more so with a soft bag. Vendor recommends placing the bag a minimum of 8" back of the windshield to "avoid air turbulence". I recommend not using on long high-speed trips.FEATURES- Soft Pack - More affordable and easy to store, but much harder to deploy and use.- Best for Roof Racks - Using the door hooks is more complicated and less secure. Even with the six hooks, it's clear that the unit is not meant for securing heavy loads.- 4-pull Zipper - The single zipper surrounds the bag on three sides. The four pulls let you select two access points, probably one on each side of the vehicle. But the lashing points limit access, and you will have to loosen and retighten repeatedly. The zipper pulls are small and potentially hard to find. Other vendors add pull loops, and you may want to do the same.- Colorful Safety Stripes - Orange and reflective stripes make the vehicle more visible, but also attract attention to the load.- Extra Straps - 12' each. Used as the third door hook lashing or around the entire bag for load control.- Anti-slip Mat - A coarser version of shelf-liner material. Functional but not especially durable.- Combination Locks - Could discourage tampering but so does the lashing arrangement, which limits access to the zippers. A thief would more likely use a knife, and perhaps remove the entire carrier.- Instructions are inadequate. I had to consult with diagrams offered by other vendors. 4-stars mainly for that.USAGE NOTES- For rack-less roofs a third strap is required. Use one of the "extra straps," placing it over the bag.- The six door hooks have loops. You pass the top straps through those loops- The four front and back straps are not used on rackless roofs. You must secure them by attaching to each other or by tucking underneath the side straps.- As always, take a photo before unfolding - to help you remember how it fits in its storage bag.

I just literally attached this to the top of my SUV this morning before leaving the house to come to my shop. I wasn't going far, but I wanted to know if it holds well and if it fit good. It did both. I threw some empty luggage up there and closed it all up and got going. 15 minutes later I arrived at my shop and it looked just as it did when I left. Now to see if it holds up to the weather, cause we are supposed to have rain the next 2 days. So I guess I will leave it up there along with the empty luggage to see if anything gets wet. If I do not come back with an update, just know that all went great and it held up to what they described it as being. So far, so good. I recommend this for sure.

Finally got a chance to use this and I was not disappointed. It was so easy to attached to my Chevy Equinox. However, my fear driving with this on top of my car with so much stuff (no way close to filling it) kinda worried me but it held up great, no movement/shifting during my 1 hour drive. It was just as easy to remove and store.

This cartop carrier is large, waterproof, and fits compactly in the included storage bag. The straps cit well on our SUV and hold it securely, even on the freeway at 70 mph.

This rooftop carrier is extraordinarily durable and very easy to install. It fit a really good amount of things within it. I didn't fear it moving what so ever while driving which is a huge plus. A must have if you are moving or traveling!
