I like the size and weight of the white ceramic gravy boat. Dishwasher safe. Plain white, but still has an interesting shape, and handle is easy to manage.

We love our graves and sauces, and this generous boat can hold a lot. Can be heavy to lift if filled to the brim! But pours well and cleans easily in the dishwasher.

My kitchen is more about function over fashion. As such, I've never owned a gravy boat. Usually a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup serves in that role. However, this is a pretty upgrade, though I still have questions about the function.What questions? Is it microwave, dishwasher, or oven safe? Good thing I can look it up on amazon because there is no indication on the boat itself. Nor is there any documentation included in the box, though the box says "inspired by Aladdin's lamp".It's very pretty. Porcelain looks and feels smooth. The weight is impressive.I did subject it to the old fashioned microwave test of fill will some water and nuke for a minute to see how it feels. I saw no sparks. The sides of the boat got hotter than I expected, which leads me to think this maybe not "microwave safe" as much as "microwave tolerant up to a point". That and the lack of indicators is why 4-star and not 5.On the plus side, I expect that once this heats up, it will keep the gravy warm. And maybe that's the idea.May update this later based on use.***** UPDATE ******It survived first pass through the dishwasher. No surface flaking or chipping.

We're a gravy family - big time - especially at the holidays!There's nothing more annoying than having to get up from the table to refill the gravy boat! This one will double the amount of gravy that my old one holds!And it's hefty! Even without gravy, this "beast of boats" weighs in at over a pound!Of course, it has uses beyond a "great gravy" too - think: cream sauces, custard sauces, tomato sauces. My guess is that it will grace my table often.The description says "Dishwasher and Microwave safe." I have been fooled before by ceramics that don't hold up in the dishwasher, and get that Craquelique finish over time, so I will probably handwash this item, although the glaze finish does look substantial.The description asserts that this gravy boat can hold twenty-one ounces, and I have no doubt that it can, but I filled it up with two cups (16 oz.,) and that's probably as filled as I would go.All-in-all, I am pleased with this nicely made item.You might think I've said all I can about this gravy boat, but you'd be wrong!I can't help but point out a curious discrepancy in the description. The page touts it as a "Chinese Palace-Style Gravy Boat," and the side of the box clearly informs: "Design Originates from the Story of Aladdin's Lamp." Confused. No matter. It's still a nice gravy boat!

I already had a gravy boat but had the need for a second one on one occasion so I opted to get this new one. Plus I liked the fact that it held more than the 16 ounces that my current boat held. In addition, my old gravy boat was a little whiter than my Mikasa dinner set so I was hoping that the new gravy boat would match better. It doesn't - it is a little more ivory but that's not a big deal.I like the style of this large gravy boat. I did a pour test with water and both gravy boats allow drippage after pouring, so I guess that is a design problem yet to be tackled.The only thing that could potentially be an issue is that the handle is smaller than my old gravy boat - I cannot get all my fingers in the loop. When the 21 oz boat is filled with heavy gravy, it may be a bit more difficult to hold it upright than my old gravy boat.
