I attempted to install the cross bars shortly after receiving, and got so frustrated I set them aside, and have not re-attempted ... yet.The main problem is access to the screw that tightens the clamping device to the side rails, which is very awkward, and you have to pry a piece of the clamping device with a pick or flat screwdriver in one hand while attempting to tighten the screw with another.Consider stumping up for a better fitting, easier to install, cross-bar option for your 4-Runner.

These racks fit my 2010 Toyota 4 runner. Not very easy to install though, the directions are not very clear, and are sparce in content.

Relatively straight forward to install. I cannot comment on durability etc as I have just put them on. Nice low profile and look great as a result.

PRODUCT LOOKS GREAT. easy to assemble on 4 runner. well test it this weekend with kayak this weekend with trip from florida to wisconsin. one might question why im going in this direction? only my wife can answer.

These bars install easily and look ok. Unfortunately this aren’t strong enough to support a cargo box loaded with 35lbs of gear. The cargo box rests on the roof on top of the flimsy bars. Definitely would not purchase again. I wish I would have bought them a day later so I would not have missed my return window. I relied on them for a trip. I’m half way though and need to get rid of them before they further damage my vehicle. I should have gone to REI in the first place…

I've installed 3 sets of crossbars and this one was the hardest. You have to jimmy the 1 inch metal that connects to the screw on the bracket in the slot of your luggage bar by loosening it. If you loosen too much you lose the metal in the slot and have to take the whole thing off to retrieve it. You jimmy it with a screw driver- per the instructions and you never feel like you did it right- who does when you jimmy something. I am worried that the thing is going to come loose driving down the road with me skis. Probably not but you just don't feel like it's on right.Then when it's all in place, you have to tighten the bolts on the cross bars (if you do it first you won't have room to work with when putting the cross bars on and won't be able to). The bolts are on the bottom so you only have about an inch between the bar and the bottom of the car. You basically have to do it blind.

I don't know what people are complaining about. It fits and works as it should. If you ordered the wrong thing and it didn't fit, that's on you. If you having problems installing it, that's on you, you are not mechanically inclined or simply do not know how to follow instructions. They work perfectly, I have a box and had luggage for 5 people in it and it held just fine. People want to nitpick that's all. Purchase with confidence, it's a great product!

I installed these on a 2023 4Runner with factory roof rails.Positives: The cross bars look great and install was fairly straightforward. The crossbars sit at about the same height as the rails, which I prefer.Negatives: Instruction sheet could have been better if they included color photos instead of black and white, but they worked. Because the bars sit low to the roof, there’s not much room to tighten the adjustment bolts (I used a towel under the bolts to prevent scratching my roof with the wrench (10 mm box wrench). The included wrench is only about 3.5 inches long, I’m sure would work in a pinch, but I used a regular sized wrench to prevent aggravation. Plastic handles on the bolts that secure the bars to the rails are small which for me made tightening them painful on the hands. Also, not sure how the plastic will hold up over time.Overall: I’m satisfied with these cross bars, they appear to have a good finish, low profile look, fairly easy to install, & great value for under $100.

Instructions were a bit rudimentary. Using the instruction sheet that came with the rack combined with a video I found online, I was able to figure out all the necessary steps. A picture of how the locking blocks are actually meant to secure crossbars in place would have been helpful.Otherwise, it seems fairly sturdy and well made. For the price, it’s hard to beat. It’s well-packaged and each piece is labeled. The Left and Right labels on the mounting bases don’t make much sense since L & R changes depending on if you are facing from the front or rear of the vehicle (or is that just my overthinking brain?), but if you just line up the arrows it goes fine. I definitely plan to put it to a short test before I go cross country with it. If no updates to this review follow, it means I was happy enough with it to keep and use it!
