This gable plate comes in a black powder coat finish and has holes for lags as well as screws. It is manufactured to mount to a truss with a king stud and two 45 degree angles off the center. The powder coat finish insures that there will be no rust in the long term future. The steel on this plate is about 1/16" thick. I'm very happy with this purchase.
