This PWM controller is excellent. It works with a wide variety of DC motors, from 6V to 28V and upto 3 amps. I tested it with a 12V motor, running at only 9V, and it worked perfectly. The PWM pot on the board has an “off” position when turned fully counter clockwise, and ramps up the PWM in a nice linear manner. The rocker switch also has forward/off/reverse positions. I didn’t notice it getting hot at all, but I was also testing in a very low power application. However, it does have a fairly good sized heatsink pre-mounted to the board, but not with a layer of thermal paste. So, be sure to apply some thermal paste if you plan on higher current applications, but at least it includes the heatsink. Easy 5 stars.

Really like the flexibility this controller offers. Most in this price range are only rated for a few watts. This one can handle some massive DC loads. (Just don't use it for AC)It is surprisingly compact for the amount of power it will handle.Great value overall.

This is great for anywhere you need to manually control the speed of a fan. I'm using this for my entertainment console as I don't need the fan I put in the back going warp speed. All I need is a little airflow and this allows me to slow down a fan so that I don't hear it at all, but still fast enough to do it's job.Could also be used for a computer or really anywhere you need/want to adjust a fan's speed manually. It's also lightweight and easy to mount.You likely won't find something like this at your local hardware store and since local electronic stores are rare, I'm glad that Amazon carries products like this.
