3/4” X 12” Leatherbeltman Leather Honing Stropping Belts now available in a 3 pack with 3 different buffing and polishing compounds included. This leather belt 3 pack includes our traditional White Diamond Compound, Green Stainless Compound, and Brown Tripoli Compound. Leather Honing Stropping Belts are designed to run on Ken Onion Work Sharp WSKTSKO Belt Sander.
3 Belts, 3 Compounds and instructions included. The Brown Tripoli is a preparatory compound which has a micron grade of 45 and a mesh equivalent of 500. The White Diamond is a precision finishing compound which has a micron grade of 1 and a mesh equivalent of 14,000. The Green Stainless is an ultra-fine finishing compound which has a micron grade of 0.5 and a mesh equivalent of 60,000. Our quality compounds have a shelf life of at least 10 years.

These work as stated. There is a learning curve to using them, but it's not too complex. For example, remember that when using it on a Worksharp, you need to sharpen "trailing" only so as to not cut your belt up. No big deal if you aren't overly reliant on the guides. One definitely starts picking up lessons in finesse with these belts as well. Definitely want absolutely minimal belt deflection. Tension was a bit much, but it stretches out in time. I do wish they had been more specific what grit or micron the included stropping compound was. All told, while these perform as advertised, I don't expect to be purchasing any more, as I've had far more success with a hand strop and diamond emulsifiers.

Second purchase. These are great. Really should come with the sharpener as the stropping stage makes such a difference. Don't leave these on under tension or the leather stretches over time. Otherwise they last forever. I highly recommend.

Purchased the Ken Onion knife sharpener for my son who is a meat cutter. He asked me to locate a new 6000 grit belt as it finally wore out. After selecting a box of just the 6000 grit belts I saw this “honing stroup” belt. Having past experience with sharpening straight razors I decided to get it for him. Good decision in every respect. He thought the 6000 grit belt was great but finishing with this he is blown away with the final edge.A word of caution in selecting the correct belt(s). This fits the Ken Onion knife sharpener, model WSKTSKO which uses a 12” belt. The belts are easy to be confused with those for the Blade Grinder Attachment, model WSSAKO8112, which uses a 18” inch belt. They both look the same, just different in length.When viewing the product you will have 3 options, a single belt, a two pack, and a three pack. Regardless of which is your choice HIGHLY RECOMMEND you click on the “1 pack” as it has an installation/operation video there off to the side which is not present on the other two quantity selections. This will show how to install and adjust the belt. I suspect that the reviews reflecting problems in adjusting the belt, etc., would have been avoided had they viewed this excellent video.

I have wanted to try this ever since I got the sharpener. Finally I recently got it. When I got it I thought I would sharpen a knife with the normal belts first then do the leather. But then I thought why not just try using the leather and see how it does on its own. I tried the knife first and it would not shave my arm hair or even cut paper very well. I did the leather just 2x per side. It sliced through paper so easily and easily shaved hair. I've since just used this on other knives and the most I've had to do it is 4 times per side. My knives are now scary sharp. And I have 2 small cuts to prove it. I highly recommend it. I wish I had bought it the first time I saw it. If any issues come up I will update my review.

I am not sure, if anyone would need these honing leather belts.It works - but makes quite a lot of mess. At the end your knife is polished, which isn’t necessarily (in most cases) superior to a very fine grit (kinda micro-serration).And the “grease stone” makes a lot of mess overall.Hence it works - but in most cases it is kinda overkill...
