Ordered this Heavy Duty Boat Trailer Winch - 3500 Lb - 33 FT Strap - 2-Way Ratchet for my trenching machine trailer.I have a walk behind trenching machine that weighs 1,600 Lbs. Have purchased (2) other winches from local big box stores over past couple years and both winches gears stripped out. One was rated 1700 Lbs and other one 2500 Lbs.I use a winch to pull my machine out from trouble when getting stuck in mud when digging a water, electric, or fiber optics trenches. Recently while shopping online for tie down straps for my trailer & machine, I saw this Heavy Duty Winch, rated a strong 3,500 Lb pulling load. After reading about how it's made of heavy carbon steel material, and with (2) speed gears & 33 ft of pulling strap, I ordered it. This winch is very nice and strong. I can now see why they classify it as "Heavy Duty". It's housing/frame is thick carbon steel material as well as the gears. I like the (2) speed ratio. The long 33 ft tow strap w/stainless steel hook is perfect size for me to use in pulling my trencher out of the mud. This baby is strong and built like a tank. I always use the 8:1 ratio as it's the slow strong one. Also like the thick and HD 10" winch arm and it has a good thick comfortable handle. I mounted it on my trenching trailer and use it for pulling out trencher often and my garden tractors when needing to load them on trailer.It easily earns a (5) star rating in my opinion

Straps come pre-spooled. Strap is nonfray and stands up to accidental abuse like if you roll it into the ratchet teeth when you are not looking. Smooth ratchet mechanism. Easy to switch between gears and to release the mechanism. Gotta be careful not to let if freewheel but that's the case with pretty much any manual ratcheting winch.

This winch is just as high quality as any other you'd pay 4x for at the local boating shop. Nice thick steel frame, painted well. Beefy gears. Two position handle for speed vs power. The better more-flexible style of strap.No complaints whatsoever.

I have a trailer that I use to transport my Honda Pioneer. It has nice gentle ramp at the back and I'd never had any problem with it up until the last time we went trail riding. At the end of the day, we were packing up and I went to fire up the Honda and run it up the ramp. Well, it was dead and I didn't have any jumper cables. So I thought me and the wife could just push it up the ramp. Not a chance. That thing weighed a ton. We needed to enlist some neighboring campers to help push it up the ramp. The next weekend I installed this winch and, of course, the Honda has not had a problem starting since then. But I did try the winch it worked great. It's very well made, with a strong web strap and fittings.

Used this boat winch to replace the stock winch on my son's boat trailer and am impressed with the quality of the unit and the reach of the 33 foot tow strap with attached hook. The extra length will help him to capture and extract boat from lake as he normally does it by himself.

I strapped this thing onto a 10-12 inch tree trunk and yanked a semi-rotted oleander bush 14-16 inch stump out of the ground. Probably exerted 800-1000 lbs. I thought surely something would have bend, but nope, still looks and works like new. Worked great.

I ended up building a Tri-Pod to attach this to in order to lift things as needed. whether it's Well Drive Pipe that didn't hit water as expected, Fence Repairs from pine trees falling on my Goat fence, or just hoisting logs up to get them on some wheels to drag away.
