I've been using manual watering timers that you set like the ol' fashioned kitchen timers (which I still love!), as well as battery-powered digital and analog watering timers, which let you set 'em and forget 'em. This battery-powered analog watering timer comes nicely packed with a protective film over the face (easily removed with the tab), and teflon tape is included for wrapping on the connections, a nice touch. I always do three tight wraps around each connection, and that guards against leaks. Also be careful not to cross-thread when you're installing the timer on the faucet. I like that both the inlet and outlet connectors on this timer are metal, which should make them last longer. This is where teflon tape comes in very handy, because you don't want unlike metals (i.e., brass and aluminum) in direct unprotected contact with each other -- you need to avoid the dreaded galvanic corrosion! Metal to plastic connections are no problem for that, however, I wrap those connections with tape anyway, just to avoid any gaps. I have had plastic connectors crack, especially if exposed to strong sun. I think the connectors on this timer are aluminum. The dials are easy to read and understand -- just follow those directions on the included pamphlet, re: resetting the timer before first use or after long storage. I would also think these reset instructions would apply when changing batteries, though I don't see that mentioned. Actually, the "read before setup" note on the box is a little scary, talking about the solenoid valve. I'm just going to follow those directions and hopefully there won't be any problems. Note that there's no "current time" indicator on this timer. I'm definitely going to hang onto the pamphlet, which contains QR codes to scan for setup instructions and customer support! There's also a QR code attached to the timer itself, but that may degrade in the elements, so I'm gonna keep that pamphlet, which also states the 3-year warranty. This feels very solid, and I'm looking forward to using it for a nice long time! 😀

Has pipe threads instead of hose threads on the inlet/female side. Will not connect to hose without adapter. The threads are metal but not brass as stated in description. Otherwise seems as advertised so far.

I’ve been using the QUOBAS 3-Dial Water Timer for my garden, and setting it up was super easy—just twist the dials, no complicated programming needed 🌱👍. The mechanical knobs feel sturdy, and the rain delay function saved water during rainy days 🌧️💧.✅ Pros:1️⃣ Simple to use—clear dials, no app or batteries needed 🛠️👌2️⃣ Rain delay & manual mode—flexible control for changing weather 🌦️🕹️3️⃣ Durable build—feels solid, fits well with my garden hose 🌿🔩❌ Cons:1️⃣ No digital precision—good for general watering but not exact to the minute ⏳❗Overall, it’s a practical and affordable choice for easy garden watering 🌼✅💦.

I’m not ready weather wise to install this item, but I’m tickled that it is analog because I struggle with digital programming on other devices I have.

This is a very nice alternative to the digital water timers that I've used in the past. Although the digital ones were great they are tricky and a pain in the neck to set. I am so happy that I was able to find one that was manual controls for once in this computerized age. It's easy to set the dials are easy to read and it works perfectly for what my needs are. I watered twice a day for a very short period of time and this one allows me to do that. It also allows me to set it for longer periods of time and I can Abt to change it when the weather is either wet or dry. I'm very happy with it I will acquire more of these since they are not digital and they're very easy to work with and they work well for watering my plants. .

I received the water timer very quickly and it looks just like what is pictured. I think it’s great they include the white tape for the connections. So far it’s working well but the real test comes in a few weeks. It’s easy to set up with the instruction booklet and it does takes double AA batteries. I got it for my husband so he will be the one using it mostly and he said it’s a pretty solid timer with metal connections which are more durable then plastic ones. Since it’s the first time using such a thing outside I hope it stands the test of time since it’s not really cheap though pretty competitive on price compared to others. There is a battery indicator light for when to change the batteries.

I find analog timers to be more trouble-free than digital controllers- the latter’s electronics can suffer from water damage. This single-outlet controller has 3 knobs which is fairly standard for analog timers. Teflon tape is supplied to help with installation, I didn’t need it in my case- the washers provided gave a tight seal. The top right knob is for manual use, the two bottom knobs are set together for automatic use. The settings offered for watering interval and frequency cover, in my experience, all possible usage patterns. This timer installed quickly and did not leak- extra points for that in my book. The battery LED flashes when the battery is low- a standard feature. The instruction manual with diagrams is clear- not always a standard feature ;-) . . Side note: This unit replaced another brand of controller which suffered from the problem of not completely shutting off; I find these irrigation timers do have a limited lifetime- though this product does come with a 3-year warranty- longer than most.

I'm putting in an auto watering system in a large bed in my backyard, and this auto-timer fit the purpose very well.I tested both the automatic and manual functions- they were spot on and worked as stated in the documentation. It seemed to me that the fittings were aluminum, not brass. Regardless, I wrapped all the fittings with the teflon tape provided. Both the inlet and the outlet were machined well, and fit perfectly into standard US hose fittings. The unit is lightweight, but feels sturdy and solid. The battery compartment holds 2AA batteries, and is well sealed. I let water run over the cover area for a few minutes, and was pleased no water got in. The indicator lights worked when I inserted the batteries; and properly indicated whether the unit was in auto or manual mode.I'm happy with this choice for my auto-watering setup. There were no leaks or problems at all, and I think it will serve well for some years to come. Recommended!

It's winter here, so I tested without full install with some old hose and a tap in the basement. Without taping, connections were good, some light leakage that will be taken care of with the included tape. 2AA powers it and there is a battery level indicator which lights up briefly when adjustments are made to the dials. I like that. Unit is basically heavy plastic but well made and not flimsy, and that includes the knobs.I do wonder if the seal on the battery compartment will keep water out. There is a silicon ring on the hatch, hoping that's enough to do the job.If you're like me, with old eyes, it's much easier to read these dials and set timers than the digital timers, so I do like this. Currently $39 with 15% discount offered and potentially a decent deal, but it's on par with other digital water timers currently on this site for cost. Just depends on whether you want digital or not, I guess.
