Not easy to find 40 grit sandpaper and this product works very well for when you need this degree of abrasion.

I bought this to sand bad rust off of my car. Did a good job of getting it off. Just make sure you finish it with like a 240 grit otherwise it will still look rough.

I don't know much about the different grits. I bought this because that is what was recommended on the paint I used. It worked as I expected, so that is a five-star for me. I was able to do a cabinet, a small bookshelf, and part of a desk.

You can get the same job done with 80 grit. No need for this 40 grit at all.
