For a safer and more efficient installation, piers should be used at the base of this floor post. It depends on your base surface and the weight you are lifting/supporting. Is this just a short duration lift or do you plan on retaining these floor jacks in place?Since the base of these Huyear floor jacks are 5" square, extra area and support can be added to give the load more area to spread over. This way, the jack won't penetrate into the soil or whatever you have as your base material. Most city building codes won't allow a permanent installation with adjustable floor jacks. Some manufacturers incorporate an Allen head screw into the adjustment collar that serves to lock the adjustable collar in place...sometimes this is acceptable to the city, but they might require extras.I like that both the top and base plates have pre-drilled holes so that you can drive your holding hardware (like nails) quickly and easily. The fabrication is very good, as are the welds.Good paint job and finish.Adjustability range is about 5" with an overall height of 11.6" to 16.1".Maximum load rating will decrease as you adjust the shaft longer. This is standard with all screw type floor supports. The longer they become, the less weight they will support. You can get more weight support with a longer length by increasing the diameter of the steel post.I am quite pleased with this product and would purchase it again.

Review: 4 PCS House Jacks for LevelingI recently acquired the 4 PCS House Jacks for Leveling from the Huyear Store, and I must say, they have proven to be an excellent addition to my home improvement toolkit. Right out of the box, the jacks had a substantial weight to them, which is always a good sign of durability and build quality. They feel robust and well-engineered, which immediately instills confidence that they can handle the rigors of any leveling job.The adjustable height range of 11.6” to 16.1” offers great flexibility for various applications. Whether you're working in a tight basement or need support under a sagging floor, these jacks can be easily adjusted to meet your specific needs. I found the operation to be smooth and straightforward, with a reliable locking mechanism that ensures stability during use.One of the standout features is the impressive weight capacity of 8,800 lbs. It's reassuring to know that these jacks can handle significant loads without any concerns about safety or performance. However, as a point of caution for those who might be dealing with particularly heavy loads on uneven surfaces, I would recommend mounting a metal plate to the bottom of the jacks. This additional support can help distribute the weight more evenly and prevent any sinking into softer ground, ensuring maximum stability. It even has holes in the bottom plates so this is pretty easy,In terms of aesthetics, they come in a sleek black finish, which, while not a primary concern for many, certainly adds a touch of professionalism to your setup. In conclusion, the 4 PCS House Jacks for Leveling are a reliable and sturdy option for anyone needing temporary support for leveling purposes. Their heavy-duty construction, smooth operation, and impressive weight capacity make them a worthy investment for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike. Just remember to consider extra support for heavier loads on softer ground, and you'll be well-equipped for any leveling project. Highly recommended!

Just received and the interior of the bottom post piece has rust. The exterior of the bottom piece is painted but had multiple chips out of the box. I'm not sure what is galvanized according to the description. The threads on the screw top had dings and nicks which makes me wonder how strong it is and how well it will hold up to repeated use. The nut, which is critical for stability, seems good but I expect once I load it and tighten it down it will strip the paint off the post. But all that is fine, my use isn't permanent and $53 for 4 of them is worth it. I believe they will support my beam just fine as I do my pier repairs.
