This Foam Insert is really great for making precise cutouts for tools or other equipment in carrying cases. It is sturdy and very absorbing of shock. The foam is very flexible yet sturdy to hold up to protecting your items. One of the small issues I encountered is the dimension. The sheets are said to be 16 x 12. They are actually about 3/4 inch larger than that. I was trying to precisely fit a container and these are just a but large. I thought it would not be an issue to "pick apart" the row needed to fit the sheet to the container, but the outer rim of the sheets are not pick apart, they are a solid frame so I would need to cut the outer layer off to fit to the container. Not a huge issues for most, but would have been nice to know.Secondly, having used several carrying cases with Pick Apart foam, I was stymied when I could not get the .4 in squares to come out right away. The connection binding the squares together runs the entire 2 inch depth of the foam1 I had to run a blade through the foam several times to get mostly through and then pull from the bottom to get the rest of the connective foam broken apart. This was a lot more work and less of a Pick Apart and more of a Saw Apart. I got through but it was a challenge to make sure I was only cutting the connective piece of the foam and not the actual squares.Overall this is going to work very well! I love the 2 inch depth and the sturdy construction.I also appreciate that they are willing to include 6 sheets instead of the typical 4 sheets! Very handy!Make sure you give the foam at least a few hours, preferably up to 6, to decompress and come to its full size.

I ordered these foam inserts to replace the ratty originals in some of my older gun cases. They feel very similar, and have about the same give and compression characteristics. After replacing the old inserts with these in a large handgun case, I put in a heavy .44 Magnum revolver and shook the case, dropped it on the floor, and opened it up to see that the revolver had stayed in place. I donʻt really pluck out any of the cubes as I bring different guns with me to the range, but I like the option and that they are fully attached top to bottom so that they are not as easy to pull out by just the guns moving around during transport. No way to tell if theyʻll last as long as the originals, but the price is good, and so is the performance.

Ordered this to organize my tools. The foam was easy to shape around my tools so they do not move around in the box when I need to take my tools on the go.

I originally gave it 1 star because it wasn't 2 inches... it's very very very slowly expanding... still not 2 inches! I'll give it another couple days & update after use.
