They are made from 316 stainless steel. I have worked with steel my whole life. 316 is a very good quality stainless.

the ring on the end is open like a key ring so things can be added and removed easily which defeats the point for me. i need this for security so i returned it. they should use a one piece ring.

Good option to secure pool ladder pins to keep them from dropping in the pool ( or lake). Used to replace the manufacturer provided rubber washer like retaining rings.

Worked well on my bimini top.Replaced broken old ones. Rings were larger than old ones. (I didn't know the old ones size)Would have still been fine, but to keep esthetics on the boat I just swapped the old rings fir the new and stored the new.
