I have used these on two different projects and they work perfectly. They are large and stout so you must have extra room to fit, but they work great. They respond to magnetic and most ferris material. I installedthem in my coil winding machine to count turns.

The 4mm detection range is accurate. I have one of these set as a limit switch. I was using a micro switch, but it was starting to have a mechanical failure. This should last much longer with no physical contact. It looks like a well-sealed unit. I am using it in a dry environment, so I should have zero worries on that side, too. The LED on the back is a good indicator that the sensor is working at a glance.
