M2A1 vs. M2A2 – What’s the Difference?
The M2A1 and M2A2 look and feel nearly identical, with matching interior and exterior dimensions and weight.
Under normal use, you probably won’t notice a difference between the two cans. But, if you plan on stacking a considerable amount of weight on your cans there is a key difference to consider.
When placing a lot of weight on an M2A1 can, after a prolonged period of time, the pressure will gradually weaken the gasket and compromise its ability to seal out moisture.
The newer M2A2 ammo can solves this problem with the addition of a metal support bracket that’s been added to its latch assembly. It prevents the gasket from being compromised under pressure, which preserves the M2A2’s seal.
If you’re working with limited space and plan to stack your ammo cans in a tower formation, the M2A2 offers greater peace of mind that your contents won’t suffer from corrosion or moisture damage.

Thi is a very nice ammo can.... I was expecting a cheaper/lighter gauge steel like you typically find at gun shows and whatnot, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of this can. And it arrived well packaged and damage free to boot.

This a good quality ammo can. It arrived defect free and it has a substantial weight indicative of the thick gauge steel it is made from. The latch is solid and heavy, as it should be, and this has a good rubber seal in the lid. When I first opened this it made that satisfying hiss from the pressure change demonstrating that it does indeed seal properly. These are great for storing anything from ammo, tools or any other items you want to be easily transported and protected from the elements. This is a good can for the price.

first things first this thing is quite large. I was able to keep a whole emergency kit including a crank radio and some emergency rations in it and now it stays near my bedside just in case something happens and I need it. I absolutely love the build quality and this thing is built like a tank. it's also got a waterproof seal so that's really useful and the included handle is quite easy to use and I've had no issues with it so far.
