Unlike the dozens of competing products that expect the user to manually shove in the cable and lock it every few inches, this is the only light duty auger with automatic feed. I couldn't believe how well it worked when I attached my drill and slowly pulsed power to clear the line under my bathtub.

The wire bent the first time I used it causing it to jam and not roll in/out anymore becoming useless unfortunately.

This item took awhile to get here. I've never used one of these before, but it seems to work ok. The device itself came with a nice storage back and does seem pretty well made. The included instructions are a bit off; they keep referring to a thumbscrew which is on a different type of auger. This one uses the handle to clamp down on the cable to retract it back in. The concept here is easy. Pull the auger wire out and insert it down the drain (I used this on my tub and needed to pull the overflow cover/stop lever out and went down that way). I kept turning the unit with my drill every so often and pulling more wire out to get it all the way into the drain. Then, once fully inserted, hold the handle down onto the wire and run the drill to spin in the drain and retract the auger wire at the same time. It tool a bit longer than I expected it would to retract, but overall it did work. I can't say this is for everyone, it's messy and a bit frustrating until you get the hang of it. But, it really isn't hard to do at all. Watch some youtube videos if you want to see how to do this. I think the tool itself is of good enough quality for a homeowner who only does this every so often. Good luck.

This snake works great and is a luxury to have when you need some serious unclogging. I hooked it to my power drill and it worked great on a toilet clog. I did find that it helps to go slow, especially when first introducing the snake into the bowl. When spinning fast it gets a little hard to control. My clog was not too far into the pipes so I didn’t stretch the snake anywhere close to its full length, but it re-coiled just fine. I have no reason to doubt that it would do the same even when stretched closer to the max.
