What’s a rivnut?
Typically a rivnut is a threaded insert that can be compared somewhat to a rivet in function. They are made to fit tightly into a drilled or punched hole through thin metal, and when using the proper tool a portion of the corrugated area on the outside barrel of the rivnut expands and collapses to lock itself into the hole becoming a captured nut for a bolt to be screwed into.

Ordered this set because I wanted to be able to use stainless threaded inserts. In checking what size mandrels I already owned and needed, I discovered that the manufacturer of my equipment indicated that the tool was not intended for use with stainless rivnuts. I subsequently ordered suitable mandrels and setting tools which are made to be used with harder metal. I know from experience just how easy it is to ruin an expensive tool by, for example, using it to cut metal which is too hard or too thick for the tool's cutting edges. This is a good assortment of sizes. now have the proper tools and mandrels to handle all but the M10 but its not worth purchasing another setting tool for just that size. There are only 10 pieces of that size in this assortment.

These rivet nuts are about the same as other stainless steel rivet nuts I have used. There are better deals on Amazon if you look. A plus is that the rivets come in an appropriately sized easy open/close plastic box. I have received some rivnuts in plastic bags or thin cardboard cartons that barely contain the product. The 4 stars are because I noted that there are some available in larger quantities with what appears to be a good plastic box for less.The ad has info such as the grip range and thread size, in this case M4 x 0.7 mm.I always recommend using a small amount of thread locking liquid on the barrel where the knurled surfaces contact the panel to insure against spinout.

Stainless steel is harder to set but brings great benefits to any automotive project due to rust resistance. These come in common metric sizes for metric screws you might have or need to fit. The container makes it easy to store and keep on hand around the garage.

These are well made and high quality. They work well, but be warned that you will need a high-quality rivnut tool to install these, as the stainless steel is pretty strong and tough, and it takes some force to crimp them into place.This is a good assortment of sizes too.Bottom line, these are high-quality rivnuts and will do the job well at a very reasonable price.

I have a kit of rivnuts in a fishing tacklebox I put together some time back to keep everything in one place.I got this kit to replace the metric rivnuts I've used up to this point.These replaced everything I used and some. These also happened to match the rivnuts I already had in my kit.These crimp well, hold tight and are threaded correctly for the threads they're labelled as.

I didn’t want to use steel zinc plated rivnuts in my Jeep due to possible rust issues later down the road. I bought these stainless units and they fit the bill for trouble free disassembly later down the road.
